Denmark v Finland | Euro 2020 Group Stage

“Danish players were given two choices - to finish the game that night, or at noon the next day. After hearing Eriksen was OK, they decided to get it finished that evening.

Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand said: "The players could not imagine not being able to sleep tonight and to have to go on a bus tomorrow and play again. It was easier to go out and it was best to get it over with.”

If they were the only choices Denmark were given, then Uefa should hang their heads in shame.

Whatever happens in this competition, their players and their captain in particular will forever get my support.

Pep was spot on when he said the amount of football being played is killing the players. A near example of that today, this should be a massive wake up call to UEFA because they seem to be sleepwalking through everything
UEFA don't care, nor FIFA for that matter. They will just keep churning out tournaments and games on top of what already exists for money.

Glad Eriksen seems to have gotten through it, the medics, his teammates, the referee & Finnish players deserve all the credit for how they handled a shocking situation.

The broadcaster should be in the shit for zooming in on him have CPR performed on him and the tears of his wife, no one needed to see any of that.

Far more probable a genetic cardiac/predisposition or recent undetected /undiagnosed issue that caused the collapse and arrest.
I suspect it could just have easily happened in training or even down the supermarket......'thankfully' it happened in an environment where treatment was immediate and first class.

The BBC have said it is UEFA who are responsible for stadium coverage.... not us.

Well the did not have to transmit those images and could quite easily have gone back to the studio. I hope they don't get away with broadcasting inappropriate coverage and images!

was that caused by the vaccine dane's took earlier in the week?

Silly Sally and some bloke on BBC praising the players for shielding their team mate from view, blissfully unaware of the sentiments expressed on here and no doubt elsewhere about the unnecessary intrusion of the cameras.
They even marvel about a still shot of the players in their protective circle keeping out ghoulish newsmen including those of the BBC of which they are part.
They could easily have stopped using the filmed coverage yesterday, put up an appropriate still picture and done a dozen things instead of cameras lingering on his crying wife and team mates. Just a story to them it seems.

I’m glad he appears to be doing well and am thankful he is getting the best care possible.

There seems to be a lot of hand wringing and flapping over the coverage. I’m not sure what they did that was so wrong. And, for those of you for whom this was some life changing event, you need to get out more.

I hope Erikson and his loved ones are resting a little easier tonight than they were for a short period this afternoon, and that they live a long, comfortable, loving life together.

Credit to Taylor for stopping the game almost immediately (5 seconds) and getting the medics on. I know refs are trained for this situation but I doubt any of them would think they would have to do it during a game. He handled the entire situation really well.

Maybe @richardtheref can give us more insight how refs are trained for this
