Derek (Ricky Gervais thing tonight on C4)

There were a couple of funny moments, I thought it touched more on drama than comedy. Maybe that's why people feel let down.
That's a fair assessment. My mum works in an old people's home, and from what she's told me, I think the programme would have been a fair representation of what goes on. I am a Gervais fan, but was a bit uncomfortable with his character at first, but after 10 minutes I stopped thinking of him taking the piss out of people like that and warmed to it. I thought it was quite good.

Load of shite, how are we supposed to feel emotionally connected to a character we have known for all of 10 minutes. Call it a day Rick.

People shouldn't be so quick to judge. It clearly wasn't intended to poke fun at the mentally disabled. Some genuine heartfelt moments in it, more so than a fully blown comedy. The balance was just right imo especially with the addition of Karl's dry humor. I'll back Gervais to the hilt though can't get enough of his material, the office/extras/podcasts were simply genius.

I think Gervais has done done excellent stuff, but that was shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, don't think I can ever listen to 'Trois Gymnopedies' again without the thought of this entering my head.

That was actually pretty moving.

Yeah I cried at the end.

First few minutes I didn't know what to make of it. Then I really started to enjoy it. It was raw emotional and quite sad for the most part.

The last scene when the nurse and the guy get together and Derek scurries after them was the bit theat made me laugh most. At that point I was laughing and crying at the same time, and anything that can do that to a person is IMO pretty special.

Thanks, Stephen Merchant. You Lanky, goggle-eyed, unfunny ****.

Still a rich talentless grammy award winning goggle eyed (very pc of you) unfunny ****

Which means fuck all. Hollywood will throw cash and awards at anything they can appropriate and accordingly butcher for its own nourishment, hence the US Office. Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais are still unfunny, increasingly desperate and thankfully increasingly irrelevant, Barclaycard-shilling cunts. That Merchant wears stupid fucking glasses is a bonus.

Im going to say this again as i have many times about many other famous people on here

BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THEM IT DOESN'T MAKE THEM TALENTLESS
