Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

Definitely sour grapes there, & it sounds very much as if Pellegrini was testing his enthusiasm & he failed.

But he's got a point about the academy players being superceded. Great that Garcia scored tonight & he's a potential star, but he had no right to be in that squad. Not been good enough.

Meanwhile Barker watches a bunch of signings get on the pitch ahead of him.

I know for a fact that Citys youth policy at one point was that they would seek out young black African athletes...I also know that quite a few foreign kids are living in hotels in and around Manchester so it comes within the 1.5-2hr catchment area. I happen to know the father of a Norwegian kid doing this right now.

I watched Devante a few times at Barnsley last season and he was poor, they got rid and the fans weren't too unhappy...just hasn't got the touch and control required .

I hope he watched Kelechi's performance last night because the penny must surely have dropped.........it may even have given him something to aspire to;-)

Really doesn't help though when we make Barker sit out of the under21s game on Monday to sit on our bench for the full 90 minutes last night

Wasn't he rejected by West Ham after he left us ? Do they not care about English kids either
No English Academies have cared about English kids for a good while because none of them have known how to train up young lads. So what all Academies do is go out around Europe and the rest of the world and find some decent players at about 15 years old, ready made, already got be good basics trained into them by foreign Academies (who do know what they're doing) so all they need to do is tailor them into an XI and hope it works out.

That's pretty much the way all English Academis have been for a decade and why the England team is full of shite players who can't retain the ball because they can't pass the ball.

I don't think living in a hotel would be classed as being in the catchment area. They would have to be residents and schooled, assuming they are under 18 as they would need to be to gain home grown status before reaching 21
