Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

If he was top scorer in League One then this article might (just) make sense but he is not even in the top ten.

I generally wish ex-Blues well but am finding it hard to in this case. The bit about Sturridge moving to Liverpool is especially crass - no mention of his wasted time at Chelsea.

I think mid table in the Championship is the maximum level he will achieve so quite how he thinks that he should have got the nod for our first team beggars belief.
 
Already, the club have 26 youth internationals, aged 16 to 19, on their books. Fourteen of them play for England and 66% of their academy players come from Manchester.
 
A lot of the above debate misses the key point. Premier League football is such a high stakes biz that the big clubs are reluctant to take ANY risks with kids, whether they be English, Spanish or Outer Mongolian.

So few of them get a chance at the likes of City/Chelsea that there will always be a potential pool of Daily Mail interview fodder.

Crazy economics makes it preferable to pay £40m+ for a 20 yo that someone else has blended in than it does to give that same guy 50 or 60 games experience ourselves.

You can't win with the media,they have their own agenda

When we play nacho or last year with pozo i think it was it's not mentioned but other clubs get praised for the same thing

We should just continue as we are and how the club want to go about introducing the kids when they are ready
 
When push comes to shove he wasn't good enough. He is probably at his level and was treated very well by the club and should have the good grace to realise this.

We could play Barker, Nacho and Roberts as the front 3 tonight and we wouldn't get any credit. What the media writes no longer has any interest to me and hasn't for about two decades now.
 
Didn't want him to make it with us anyway. Always disliked Andy Cole. Rag wanker.
