You are correct, there certainly is not a xenophobic undertone at City, if anything the xenophobia comes from the likes of Cole, backed up by the media ! Let's put this one to bed shall we ? The reason him and most English kids don't make it is because they are not good enough. If they were good enough then England might have made it through to at least one final of the 25 tournaments ( Euro and world cup ) that have taken place in the last 50 years ! Partly down to the FA and bad coaching, but also partly down to the attitude of English players, sadly.

Devante came to City when he was very young (7/8)
Many years before the new Academy was built.
I'm certain if Devante Cole arrived today in 2015 aged 7, he would
become a much better well rounded player in 13yrs time (when he'll be 20)
Than he is now (aged 20)
We're seeing it already (even though results are pointless at this age)
Our U10/11/12 etc groups are demolishing teams from other clubs....
To a point the likes of Man Utd are refusing to play our kids :D

I dont think City do care about English kids. I dont think they care if they are English or Japanese - if they are good enough to get into the first team they will no matter what nationality.

I sense a feeling of entitlement when reading it.
When you consider how many local lads we have at all age groups, it makes his arguement look a bit silly.

Young English talent already receives a bit of a leg up in the domestic game. This is clear from the silly amount young English players are sold for (if they are good).

Had a read of the article and tbh rather than a pop at city is more of a standard and thinly veiled mail 'they come over hear and take all our jobs' story. The lad is just being used to push their agenda.

If the quotes are accurate then I'm afraid you have to lay the blame entirely at Cole's feet.
