Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

Tell me a team in the top 4 who are giving loads of opportunities to English players. Utd are the only one and last year it was because they had no choice. They blooded a lot of defenders because they needed defenders. Show me which have cemented a first team slot. It's not a City thing it's Premier League thing. It's a top 4 thing. We've shown if they are good enough chances will come. It's telling that many young players the top clubs bring through are from abroad. I wonder why this is. In time I think City will change this having changed the coaching culture and educated in every sense a new generation.
I applaud the likes of Everton bringing through young players but they have limited revenue, relatively low expectations and frankly they have no choice but to do this. They clearly coach them well and do a good job. When City start to bring English players through they will be of a different quality entirely.

Devante fucking Cole....what's he actually achieved in the last 5 years and where do you think he'll be in 5 years time ?

CITY to Milton Keynes to Barnsley to Bradford....spot a trend !!

Sounds like he's become a surely,arrogant,ignorant expectant **** like his wage stealing lisppish,father !!

Its just clearly unfair. First of all it's a nationalistic sentiment that has few relevance to a private owned sports team, why sould city shareholders care beyond perhaps the extra income they could receive from having poppular English footballers? Most of those shareholders are foreigners, its similar to any other foreign owned private company on youre soil.

Second the fair argument is there that its as much as a bpl issue as it might be a city one. Or in fact one could even whine that real madrid is having too few brits, are they anti brit?

Lets get real, whoever decided to put out that article was most probably quite concious of these fair considerations but chose to print it anyhow, which makes me think that its impetous was more like "what kind of dirt can we throw at city" rather than any real concern for brittisch youth.

Jamie Jackson is a rag, doesn't even try to conceal his allegiances. He's also a tinpot journo who shouldn't really be qualified to write for the Beano.

If you're relying on him to fight our corner then you're going to be disappointed.

This. His bias is a running joke on the Guardian comments section but behind the bigger joke of the fact he is a paid writer when he is genuinely shit at it. He has recently written a book about United and his match reports on our games have to be seen to believed. He will spend the majority of the article on the other team's chances even if we win 5-1 or something similar. It's very funny actually. He's a hack plain and simple.

And seeing how many times he can insert the words 'Manchester United' into a City article. It's common knowledge on the Guardian comments, not just by City fans but Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea fans too. I suppose they do need to appeal to the masses in that respect - articles for the home county rags - but some of his have been borderline defamatory. He's a self confessed red from Morecambe if i'm not mistaken.

Saw this loser in City sq last season, a more miserable, up his own arse , son of a good footballer you would ever meet.

KDB? To the centre of the bench?

Ah, apologies, still Barker or Roberts could have played centrally for the final few minutes.

I stand by my point, that it would have been more fair to give Barker his debut so they are on 1 app each, and therefore make Barker feel as if all his inclusions in the match day squad, and subsequent omissions from the EDS, aren't all for nothing. He is currently in limbo and is not achieving anything by not playing, and is in the same boat as Roberts in this regard.

It's fundamental that 18/19 year old players (and especially flair/confidence players) are playing regularly.
