Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

There is no problems with Barker's attitude. Saying otherwise is literally just guesswork. He works very hard in all the games, not the sign of someone who's a liability. Bit unfair to start to hypothetically label him this way based on basically nowt as negative labels tend to stick even if they're totally false...

Some poster who said he knows brandon did say there were problems behind the scenes towards the end of last season .

Yes I'm very close to him,and I totally agree with you about him being tired at the end of last season, there was a few issues behind closed doors as well!!
He had 41 clubs interested in him, 6 prem,10 championship and the rest from Europe, the kids in a great frame of mind at the moment and I think this will be his breakthrough season!!
He's commited to the club he loves, even though some clubs were putting ridiculous bids in for him!!
Btw do you know any other player that has played first team that was born as close to the first team stadium than Brandon, he was born less then a mile from the etihad??

Yeah I remember that post but that doesn't necessarily mean its his attitude...

the point was it's up to Brandon to make it, and a bunch of upset fans on a forum claiming it's prejudice as to why he's not in the team, gets him nowhere and just ends up looking a bit daft. If he impresses Pelle enough he'll get into the team, it's really that simple.

I like Brandon a lot, but the bizarre line of attack some posters have used on our club in this thread isn't a helpful narrative for him at all.

Personally I don't think loaning Denayer out was a mistake. Given the form of Sagna and our CBs he wouldn't have got much game time here. Probably better for his development to be on loan elsewhere this season and come in for Demichelis next season.

......................and Denayer said himself - City signed Otomendi for £30M.......so he moved to Turkey.

It was purely hypothetical, as to one possible reason he is behind Garcia. As I say, perhaps he isn't displaying any attitude problems, but the club are holding him back to ensure this. I've read much of what you write with regards our youth, and if you tell me he has a great attitude then I'll take it. I'm not suggesting he has an attitude problems, I'm suggesting the club could be holding him back, to prevent any future or potential problems. It's just one possible reason. As is the club see Garcia as a better fit. As is Garcia is obviously showing more in training. The other possibility is as Neville Neville seems to be suggesting it's based on nationality.

I personally believe Garcia's skill set, suitability to our team is greater than Barkers from what I've seen and obviously the club sees it this way too. I don't believe for one second that Barker is being ignored on nationality alone.

I can see why Garcia is highly rated. He is highly rated by me. I'm delighted the lad scored & hope it raises him up a level. Doesn't change the fact that he had absolutely no right to be there in the first place, when other kids who have been considerably better than him, are not getting the chance to prove themselves.

You might be right, that Barker can't make it at senior level & Garcia might turn out to be a star. Right now however, Barker IS a star at EDS & U19 level, & Garcia is probably not even in City's best 11. By next year, he might begin to star, but right now, he doesn't, & he doesn't work harder than the others or do anything to merit being promoted ahead of them so he shouldn't be promoted ahead of them.

My point is a simple one, Barker has been one of the outstanding players amongst City's youngsters, for the past two seasons & at the head of the queue for those deserving a first team chance, along with Kean Bryan, Mafeo etc. You, for some reason, have decided you think he is a 'big time Charlie' which frankly, I find an absolutely ridiculous assumption based on watching the lad play football, & which makes discussing it with you, somewhat pointless as, obviously, you won't want him preferreed to others if you hold that opinion.

I would argue that it is irrelevant anyway. Ronaldo is a big time Charlie.

Iheanacho had a couple of spectacular moments in City's EDS, at a stage when Barker had faded a bit & was rightly promoted. However, over the course of the season, Barker, many times, produced that same level of quality. Garcia, as yet, has never produced anything, even comparable. Celina is currently better than him.

When he starts to produce it, he will deserve a chance. Right now, he doesn't, & Barker does, because he does stuff like this , over & over & over again, & Garcia, doesn't.

I fully understand your point, but I don't think 'deserving' is going to be enough at City. I literally can't argue that every time I've watched the EDS that Barker stands out. My point, he's obviously being over looked for some reason. Personally as I've said, I think City favour the more intelligent footballer, centrally based potential play makers. If it were just Garcia ahead of Barker there could be an argument for a favouring of Latin players, but last season Celina was promoted ahead of Barker. He's a player I like very much, but I doubt his highlight reel is quite as spectacular as Barker's.

As you say, Barker is or was the stand out player of the Eds for the last 18 months or so, so something somewhere is going wrong for him. Would you not agree? Or do you think it's purely down to nationality.

I personally believe the club don't believe just yet that Barkers brand of football will cope at senior level. He won't be faster, he won't be stronger. My bet, City will be allowing him to develop his game training with the first team. They put him in now, he fails he's on the heap or on loan at Wycombe. He will have to learn the level and adapt his game. Perhaps this is what's taking time.

I don't think its an attack on the club to suggest that Barker deserves a chance, arguably more than anyone, due to his exceptional performances for the EDS and u18s last year. It's just an opinion. I'm certainly not claiming its prejudice as I dont think its a nationality thing.

I'm a bit late to the whole Devante Cole thing. Just read the interview from the Mail. The guy's a **** and the story is a joke. Absolute disgrace the amount of coverage given to a two bit league two player so he can woman about City. No doubt if his daddy wasn't Andy Cole or if he'd had only good things to say about City, he wouldn't have gotten that kind of coverage.

On Brandon Barker v Manu Garcia. Just from what i've seen, I rate Garcia higher. That boy's 100% going to be a first team player at City. With Barker I don't know.

Perhaps it's just me but if I was a young footballer trying to make it at Manchester City I would not be lauding it up at Hideout Festival, Parklife and Ibiza hotspots which are known for drug usage. I am not for one moment saying that usage is the problem, however you can see why the club would rather he is not surrounding himself with those who perhaps are.

It's definitely an attitude problem with Barker. He has the young English lad mentality.
