Christ, just watched that YouTube video. It's fair to say every club has some truly moronic blind lemming supporters.

"I was pissed up and me mates did it so I did too."

Singing that song was one of the most stupid things anyone did in "support" of MCFC. It was pathetic, embarrassing, unnecessary and wholly misguided.
It was misguided, I agree, and I declined to join in myself, but I can think of many things that I've found far more "pathetic, embarrassing and unnecessary" that City fans have done.

Port Vale '98 springs to mind.
Outside the Clarence at the end of season also springs to mind. Buses being bottled by people not brave enough to stick around, but would rather run back to the safety of their pack. Blues being targeted for doing things the twats lobbing said bottles thought was not hooligan enough. Blues being bottled by bottles missing the buses. It was fucking stupid there at times, and always at the end of a season, presumably so their faces wouldn't be there the next week and so on. Shit heads.

Was that the one we lost 2-0? Gio on the left wing?

All I remember is being stood in a terrace up the side and everyone was fuming. Some scrapping on the road down the hill outside too.

We lost 2-1 DD, but that's the game, yeah.

There was a game at half-time between two teams of amputees playing on crutches and the chant from some of the City fans was "are you City in disguise?"

I've got a few more where that came from.....

I was truly disgusted at the people singing the Pellegrini song in wembley. I also remember being angry at vassell's name being booed before a game by a lot of people. I think samaras got that too-booed onto the field. I've hear terrible abuse of players back in the 90s too, like edgehill, summerbee, dibble. Dibble being booed every time he touched the ball was bad too.

It's football though. Every club has knobheads.

I used to cringe for Edghill when he was booed. Poor bastard.
Remember a racist remark from the Kippax too one game. Some big bastard in a leather coat and slick back hair, looked like he enjoyed the sun bed. As racist a remark as you could make, which shocked me to be honest, though I was young. A black guy stood not too far away from us took exception, though the racist twat didn't flinch once. TBH that's the only racist shit i've heard at City, which is good. Like you say DD, every club has knobs.

not sure why a song backing the current manager at the time, and rejecting his sky bet touted replacement can be described as dissent or unsavoury,i suppose you can be disgusted in hindsight that must be it

I also remember a small number(couple of hundred?) singing Hillsborough chants in the first game at Maine Road after Machin was sacked that was against LFC and they had the audacity to score.

That's worse than what was sung at the Green Man, surely?

Funny what you say about Vassell. Mate of mine (who's a blue) bumped into him a t a golf club in the East Midlands a few weeks ago and they inevitably got onto the subject of City. He couldn't say enough good things about the club and the supporters - best time of his career he said. May have been playing to up to the audience to some extent, but my mate said he seemed genuine.

All in your opinion. Would I sing it again? No. Looking back would I say it was the most pathetic, embarrassing, stupid thing I've ever done in support of the club? Not by a long shot.
Misguided I'd give you, and at a push unnecessary. I've already gave the reasons I joined in though and I'm able to sleep at night knowing in the grand scheme of things it was just a song that a few blues sang in support of Mancini, nothing more nothing less.

I'd say we have for many years been as un-racist a club as there is, due to the moss side location, number of black players in the 80s and number of black fans.

But I remember one of my first times in the kippax in the mid 80 s and some geezer shouted "you black bastard" and right in front of him a group of black lads turned round, scowled and shut him right up. But like you I can't remember much else racist.

I never heard any hillsbrough singing but obviously plenty of Munich stuff and I remember the kippax hissing and singing 'spurs are on their way to Belsen' in the 80s too. To an extent it went on everywhere back then.

Going to be honest here: I found the demonisation of tevez to be pathetic too.
