Did Mancini hold us back?

99% of football fans (myself included) do not have the faintest idea whether Pellegrini will be better, worse or the same as Mancini.

Yes because we were doing such a bang up job before he arrived. As has been said the world and his wife were saying that we would never win the league with a bunch of overpaid mercenaries and we did. We also added an FA Cup and cemented our position in the CL qualification spots. This was all done in two and a half years under Mancini and included some memorable performances (and some crappy ones) along the way.

This year we have regressed to well 2nd and in the end the time for change arrived which it duly did. That it happened on the day of the FA Cup final was shall we say unfortunate.

So here is a tip. Instead of fretting over what other fans think ask yourselves this. If on Mancini's first day at City I offered you an FA Cup. A PL title. Beating ManU 6-1 away and a host of other performances and automatic CL qualification 3 years running would you have turned that down as 'not good enough'?

Took a side from 6th place to 1st in 30 months, was undoubtedly good for us.

Not too bothered what neutrals think, three and a half years ago they were the ones saying we could never win a title with mercenaries, most of our players actually wanted to go to the rags and our spending was immoral.

In the long run it doesn't matter anyway. His time has been and gone, and it serves no purpose talking down his achievements at the club (although I suspect that is what will happen over the next couple of months).
Mancini didn't take the club to first place, if I put my aunt Gerty in charge of Apple next year and they make huge profit, is it all down to her?
I see this rubbish in the work place with sales staff taking credit for a huge order that was going to be placed anyway.
I can't think of one player at City who has played to his full potential consistently under Mancini in the last season and a half apart from defensive players.

If your Aunt Gerty takes Apple from the 6th most profitable company to the most profitable then yes, she does deserve credit for it.

There's a thread on RAWK (I know!) on this subject and they're saying stuff along the lines of ''watch City go now they're going to have a decent manager''.

Mike Bassett would have achieved the same with this squad, Mancini wasn't much more than an organic mascot.

Not much point discussing if you think thats the case.
