I suspect that for Pellegrini the win in itself was the most important thing tonight and after 80 minutes when it became a clear possibility he decided to close it down. The whole club has so far not, in my opinion, been ready for the Champions League. That includes the players who have until now been intimidated by the likes of Dortmund, Napoli, Real and Bayern to the point that we have just about escaped humiliation, as well as the fans who fail to fill the ground for CL matches.
