Did we really get it wrong?

Fuck it I give up. We won but POSSIBLY our huge entourage don't know the rules and we are OK with that. I must worry too much. Winning, topping the group all is immaterial to the point.

That what I heard too. I cannot see what the fuss is about.

He brought Rodwell on late on because they were getting on top and our two strikers were doing nothing. Putting aguero on then could have cost us a deserved, morale boosting win

That's not what he said (I do agree with the rest of your post though - didn't disagree with the subs personally). Here are the quotes from the Independent for the record:

One more goal would have been enough to secure the two-goal margin needed for City to top the group at Bayern's expense, but Pellegrini, although, it could be a simple case of still learning the English language, appeared to think City required five goals, not four.

When asked by Sky Sports after the match if he was tempted to bring on his best striker with nearly 30 minutes remaining, Pellegrini replied: "I was tempted if we scored the fourth goal of course. That's why I sent Aguero to warm up."

When talking about the substitution of Silva at a time when City only needed one goal to achieve the two-goal winning margin they required to finish top, Pellegrini, who reached the semi-final of the competition with Villarreal in 2006, said:

"[But] to score two goals in those circumstances would be difficult and Silva has to play no more than 70 minutes"

One more goal, City's fourth, could have given them the 4-2 scoreline they needed to finish as Group D winners, but Pellegrini did say later in the interview that finishing top was not the most important thing for his team.

If you go around worrying about things that may have POSSIBLY happened, then yes, you do worry to much.

I don't think it's coincidence that the most abusive responses are from people who were the staunchest critics of Mancini.

Quite ironic given what their response likely would've been had Mancini made such a glaring error.

Either way, a great result. But an opportunity missed.

Some people just can't handle anything negative being said about this club. Yes it was a great result in the history of the club and we should be happy at that over anything, but if Pellegrini really didn't know we only needed one more goal to top the group then that's a pretty bad mistake whether it was a great result or not. We would have had a much better tie in the next round. Oh well, you gotta beat the best to win anyway.

If this was Moyes, you'd all be ripping him apart for it.

THIS IS FORUM NOT FOR MAKE OPINION AND HAVE THINKINGS.

How am I a WUM? I'm delighted we won, but if and I mean IF we didn't know it's astonishingly poor.

Christ on a bloody bike, are you for real?
Read his post again, carefully this time, and tell me what he said that is wrong? I agree with him. It's a fantastic result, especially given the shite start to the game. All praise to MP and the team. However; if they weren't aware of what was needed to win the group when we were 3-2 up, it is poor. Simple question; could you see Barca, or real, or Bayern not being fully up to speed on what would be needed if they were in a similar position? Honestly?

For fucks sake! We will have to beat the best eventually yes but it's about the fact we shouldn't make this sort of error IF indeed it was an error!
