Did we really get it wrong?

You would expect a thread like this to emerge the afternoon or evening the day after the victory, not 5 mins after the final whistle.

Still, some posters absolutely desperate to put a knife in Pelli

Yep, still trying to point score after the summer.

I like Pellegrini as a man, respect him as a manager, and desperately want him to succeed at my club.

So not me. Nor others I should imagine,

We have just done Bayern away, many blues have never seen such a match so were rightly ecstatic.

Seeing others then put the boot in, many fellas who never seem to post besides to moan is going to provoke a reaction, like it or not that is human nature.

Talk about it yeah, voice displeasure but some of the talk here was inflammatory at best.
Surely you can understand how people would take personal offense at some of this.

Well whilst everyone else was ecstatic at the result, I would have taken a draw knowing we'd gone all out to get the goal that would have won us the division. Don't get me wrong, the performance in general was spectacular and it's great that we've won a game away at the best team in the world. But that doesn't mean I'm happy with how the game ended and the mistake that was made. I'm looking at the bigger picture and that is there is a much bigger probability that we will go out in the next round by virtue of playing a tougher opponent.

Fair enough that Jay i can see how some would be miffed at such a basic mess up.
I personally do not subscribe to the draw issue, i look at it more in a "we have to beat the best at some stage anyway" manor.
I feel all teams left have the skills on their best day to beat almost anyone else so in that sense we are just playing at it trying to get an easy draw next round.
I can see your reasoning though.

Far too may on here over the past 24 hours Billy, that stand out like a fucking sore thumb.

It's like white noise. You just need to learn how to tune it out!

That is until all the pissed up moderators who were in Bayern sober up and start cleaning house. :)
There's one mod in England who's pissed off (rather than pissed up) with all this fucking shit .

If we'd cocked up and failed to qualify because we thought 3-2 was enough then people would be entitled to ask very pointed questions. But we didn't.

We beat the reigning European champions in their own stadium, which not many others have done. Unlike Chelsea, we took the game to them instead of sitting back, riding our luck and relying on penalties. We even beat them with only 3 players currently classed as first choice. This was a team that destroyed us at The Etihad and they were pretty well full strength.

We were still playing a 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 or whatever you want to call it at the final whistle. It wasn't like we'd taken all the forwards off. Milner, Negredo & Navas were still on the pitch. What if we'd taken Garcia or Navas off for Aguero and then conceded 2 like in the last 5 minutes in Madrid? No doubt the same Mancini cock-sucking brigade and others laying it on thick for not going for a 4th goal would have been even more unbearable in that case.

We've qualified for the last 16 for the first time in our history.
We've stood toe-to-toe with the mighty Bayern Munich and given them a bloody nose in front of their own crowd, in the way they did to us.
We've restored confidence and belief among the squad and most (but sadly not all) of the fans.
We've got 2 extra coefficient points that could easily be the difference between pots 2 & 3.

So we might have got a 4th goal. But we might not have. We might get a really difficult opponent in the last 16. But we may not depending on other results tonight. Whoever we get, we might or might not beat them but we'll be back for another crack next year.

I'm buzzing about last night, being in that draw on Friday and playing Arsenal on Saturday yet a group of sad fuckers or undercover rags on here are whinging about not going gung-ho for a 4th goal we might well not have got.

You know, sometimes I wish the Sheikh would piss off. Then we could get rid of the fans that behave like spoiled kids, with their exaggerated sense of entitlement, who whine that we didn't put 4 past Bayern at the Allianz. We could go back to the days of Gareth Taylor, Conlon, Brannan & Creaney. Then we'd really have something to fucking moan about.

The confidence bit is what I get from it all, and that's why I can not understand all the aggravation

I likethefact we got it wrong! Bit of typical city remains, we win at bayern and make a fuck up. Think it's great. We won't win this cup this year but getting better each year and we will do in the next ten years! Think of the Stuart Pearce season and enjoy!!!!

i dont think subbing aguero on for dzeko would have made a difference, we had little time and Bayern really stepped up the pace again after our 3rd.

Yeah, i'm not convinced this thread has got anything to do with how people feel about pellegrini in general or lingering resentments from mancini or anything like that. i reckon most genuine blues are honest in how they feel. we're just pretty divided on the matter. i can see your seething about it and honestly, i'm trying to get annoyed about it. I just can't.

Lets see what the draw brings.

I guess it also annoys many that after such a brilliant game some posters have gone to town on the issue
It certainly did me. When we should be celebrating a great win, we have this thread, with nearly as many posts as the post match thread. If LT thinks anything I posted was aimed at him (since he named me specifically), then I apologise, it wasn't, but there are people on this thread who are suspiciously missing when anything positive about our club is discussed. I also reserve the right as a mod to still have an opinion, and if I feel strongly about it, I will express it.

I love this club, I thought it was at its most loveable last night, in the usual quirky way, beating the european champions, after giving them a 2 goal start, gaining 15 points in the CL, and still finishing runners up in it, surely this is the real story ?

I'm still unconvinced that there just wasn't a language mix up anyway, highlighted because Sky made such an issue of it, funny that, Sky making it the agenda of the night, not our superb win.

Because going for a fourth goal and losing confidence have fuck all to do with each other. That post from PB is absolutely disgusting to be honest. The last paragraph is a disgrace from a mod when most people that are complaining about the mistake are not going over the top, they're not saying the manager should be sacked or anything even remotely like that. No-one is whining that we didn't put 4 past Bayern. We're moaning that we didn't try to.

It seems to me too many people want the glory of a victory when the bigger picture was to risk a draw for the chance to go all out and win the group. The thing that annoys me is that had Pellegrini known with ten or fifteen minutes to go that we needed one goal then he would have gone for it.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with people questioning what happened last night and I for one have had enough of being made to feel like an inferior supporter because of it.
