Did we really get it wrong?

Twats. Clearly a language problem and the media trying to stir things up. What Pellegrini meant was he was tempted to bring Aguero and they might score the fourth goal. But he had to take Silva out (he was off at 2-2) because it was impossible to score two more with 20mins, and Silva had to rest.

He probably thought they were asking why bring Negredo instead of your best striker Aguero.

But Milner scored the third and Negredo nearly scored the fourth later on. What's the problem, really? A lot of media pricks just lost a lot of money. That's why.

This is what I can`t get my around !! If we had scored another goal (according to this final league table) how the hell would we have gone through as group winners,as they would be 1 goal worse off and us ONLY one goal better off :

Played Goal Difference Points
View full table
1 Bayern Munich 6 12 15
2 Man City 6 8 15
3 Viktoria Plzen 6 -11 3
4 CSKA Moscow 6 -9 3

Some fucker clear this up for me please !!!!!!

Plzen scored 2 goals in Russia and in the reverse game CSKA only scored one goal away.

Elite sport at the highest level is all about ' fine margins ' and it would appear our first team manager and players were not aware what permutations were required to top our group .

Certainly they should have been better briefed .

Bayern certainly were as they were jittery as fuck and Mueller tried to waste time and play keep ball in the corner late on even though they were losing at home .

It's head to head results, not goal difference.

...I think.
It is head to head in the CL when teams finish level. Therefore if City had won 4-2 tonight, it would have matched Bayern's two goal win at the Etihad. However, because we would have scored 4, it would have bettered Bayern's 3 at our place. Fairly simple really, though maybe not for our management team!

:-(

I'm totally confused. Surely we didn't make such a monumental cock up that we didn't know what we needed to top the group. We have a hundred coaches and countless analysts, if they really didn't know heads should roll because that is truly amateurish and embarrassing.
Whether we would have got another is immaterial, it is a joke that a top class outfit could be so clueless.

one of city great performances and all you can post is this shit , your either a rag or a complete cock or both

I'd like to know the answer to this question. If MP had known it only needed one more goal would he have done things differently or would he have made the same subs?

Why would any blue care less about this shit? If you're going to win the CL, then sooner or later, you have to play the MADrids of this world and beat them.

We will win this competition one day. The rags will cry us a river when that day comes.

While ultimately true, it is naive to think avoiding the big boys for one more round wouldn't improve our chances.

No he isn't, it was a great victory but the principle still stands. We should have known every outcome, it's not 1996.

I watched the interview post match, and it was very clear to me that Pelligrini believed we needed 2 more goals " if we score 4 I put Aguero on", "2 more goals is too much", I looked at my son and neither of us could believe what we were hearing.

We will get crucified by the rag tops, and talkshite.

I totally concur that tonight's result and performance was outstanding FWIW in my opinion bringing Aguero on probably would not have made much difference, securing the win with 5 to go made sense, just a pity about the PR disaster post match.

Its just fucking weird how much abuse the OP is getting over this.

Its a legitimate talking point - which is extremely frustrating considering the amazing comeback and result we witnessed tonight.

Becoming increasingly clear that Pellegrini, his coaching staff, and all the players were not aware a further goal took us top of the group. If this is so its embarrassing, shambolic, amatuerish in the extreme, and thoroughly baffling.

When you think how much time, preparation, money, expertise and miniscule planning goes into the running of the team and club. For this oversight to occur is truly bizarre.

Reading all the aggressive defenders of this - denying it in most instances or, more strangely, attempting to wave it away as if it doesnt matter - reveals the true depth of supporter bias.
And these posters are probably the same ones kicking off at Sky for their bias. Hypocrites.
