Did you celebrate? (vs Spurs pg21)

Yes.

Aguero looked embarrassed and it was all just a bit “meh”.

I haven’t celebrated a single City goal like I used to when we’ve played under VAR.

I used to really want it, watching the Rags gain advantage after advantage from refereeing but I just want the feeling of us scoring to come back.

Var is brilliant I get to celebrate twice

You cannot honestly tell me you celebrate when it goes in to the same level as before we had VAR?

I’ve always been one to look straight at the officials to see if a flags up or the ref is pointing to the centre spot but you know right away because you can just look at them.

This is turd now.

And the thing is, thousands of people will be thinking this. It’ll have an effect on crowds over the coming years.

Life is tough, we’re in work all week, we have our social problems too and we all need that something to give us some elation in life and to de-stress. For football fans it was that emotion of the ball hitting the net. There’s never been anything better than going bananas when the ball hits the net. The pure exhilarated feeling you get inside. Nothing else in life makes you go so wild. You don’t celebrate at the front of the church [or wherever] when you get married or in the delivery room when your kids are born, like you do when your team scores a goal.

And especially the big goals (Dickov, Agüero, Kompany), the big goals where you lose yourself, we’ve all had it when we’ve ended up three rows in front of where our seat is because we’ve gone fucking mental with a goal being scored. Those goals are better than sex and are moments that will live with us until our dying day.

But now, it’s over!

Nobody is ever going to celebrate in the same way again. The ball will hit the net - and if it’s not already done it, a few more VAR interrupted celebration will get the rest of you at some point - and the first thought won’t be “YYEESS!!”, it’ll be “wonder if that’ll be disallowed?!”

I’m gutted. Absolutely gutted!
I think the Sterling goal against Spurs in the 92nd minute of the CL QF, which would have been one of the most memorable moments in our history for all the right reasons, will now be remembered as the moment we knew that VAR had killed the passion of the game forever.

The vast majority of our goals are going to be ones that you aren't sure are going to count. Little chips over the top to the runner. The slide rule pass to allow the runner to square it for an open goal.

Unless it's a 30 yard screamer, you can forget celebrating just incase you end up looking like a dick

I'm struggling to celebrate goals now because it's a bit more complicated than glancing over at the assistant referee.

I was watching that game on a dodgy stream so was 30secs behind anyway. Called my dad straight away and he was the one who broke it to me. Killed me for a good while that did.

I was there on saturday and celebrated the 3rd goal, then the VAR stuff and sarcastically celebrated again. Had it been the goal to make it 1-0 or 2-1 im not sure how i would have reacted. At the time it was already a formality anyway.

The worst ones are going to be the late winners/not winners. Since we started smashing most teams my celebrations have become generally quite tame but late goals always bring out a huge reaction.

Correct!

I was at the game and celebrated the goal like it was a last minute title winner. You can imagine the deflation around the stadium.
We're lucky we had Vinny's goal against Leicester to be a replacement highlight for the season.
