The high street is simply as identikit as most other towns centres nowadays. Same shops and bar/restaurant chains pushing most of the local businesses out. Still got some great pubs though, as said, Royal Oak, and The Fletcher Moss. Shame the Old Cock has become a chain 'seafood' restaurant though.

Prestwich used to be nice, but in the past 10 years it's been infiltrated by horrible Salford scumbags (I'm not saying all Salford lads are scum, just these ones). Consequently, ultra-violence for not showing these scrotes 'respec' increases, landlords threatened for door-money, the pubs close down. The place is shit now, glad I moved away. Didsbury is summed up by the new cocktail bar that opened on the corner. Went in there, the guys behind the bar had those big daft ties on, the music was so loud you couldn't speak to anyone. I went to get a few pints, was queuing for half an hour. They were spending 10 minutes doing cocktails for each person, I was getting wound up, asked how long it'll be before I get a pint "Oh, this is the cocktail bar, you have to go round the other side for lager". I'd got a few pints there half an hour earlier, turned out, unbeknown to anyone else, that after a certain point, the 'bar' turned into a 'cocktail bar'.

Someone was shot in the middle of a bar there a weeks ago. It's turned into that kind of place.

I like Chorlton. Nice mix of people and nice mix of bars and pubs, shops and local shops etc, with the countryside very close by with Chorlton Meadows and the waterpark etc.

A good mix of Blues and Rags too.

i live in sale, and other week me and my mates decided to go elsewhere for a nightout, even though their is nothing wrong with kings ransom etc. but we went to didbury thinking it would be a good laugh and to be honest thought it was shit.
but if you are looking for meals, didsbury does have some nice places to eat.
