Posh? Buses? Wilmslow Rd? Bars?

I love it, Didsbury is so underated

You should entitled your post, "I live in Didsbury, tell me how great it is where I live."
Yawn.

theres always at least one wanker in every thread always

That's what you meant though wasn't it? Since when has Didsbury been underrated?
It's always been a desirable place to live, even before Richard Madeley was caught bang to rights at Tesco.

newton heath -surprisingly good no chain shops

Didsbury every penny spent there is repatriated elsewhere

Newton Heath, used to be known as a good little shopping area in its day, with shops all up Oldham Rd, and Old Church St., including a packed market. But, like many other places, it has gone downhill big time. The market is dying on its knees. Most of the shops on Oldham Rd have gone, and Church St is full of the usual kebab shops/takeaways and discount shops. And sorry to disagree Kronkite, but Netto, Lidl, McDonalds,Winsors are chains that have moved in.
Pub wise, NH used to be a great place. The Robin Hood, The Horseshoe, The Soapbox, The Railway, etc, all closed now, or on the verge of closing. Just left with the idiot pubs on Church St, and the Labour/Working men's Club that has trade.
Next door, Failsworth was a FANTASTIC place for nights out, with 'The Pole' being the centre. The Pack Horse, (Fri nights in the Pack, then half the pub in cabs to Smokies) Bridge, Black Horse, Crown and Cushion, Royal Oak etc. Unfortunately, the scrotes from out of the area caught on to it, (as seems happens everywhere now) and its died a death. Pubs shut or for sale, and a 'Last Orders' the only place with busy trade. (For those who don't know of this small chain, think Weatherspoons, but WAY downmarket of even them!)
People of Dids/Chorlton etc, don't know how lucky they are with all they have.

I'm quite happy in South Wales to be honest. Would never give up whats down here to move to Didsbury! We have beaches, forests, mountains, citys, great countryside pubs, there is something for everyone. Its a long drive up to watch games though, although the roads are great fun.

Spot on, I'm originally from Prestwich, which used to have great, packed boozers, the Salford and Cheetham Hill wannabee mobsters have ruined all this, I lived in Sale for 8 years which has rubbish pubs, except for the Kings Ransom, but one pub doesn't make a town.
My brother lives in Chorlton, where I go a lot. Chorlton is great for a booze, loads of good bars, my fave is "The Marble Beer House", the draught Krombacher in there is the best lager in Manchester (IMO), and the clientele are nice people, no scrotes at all. The people of Chorlton and Didsbury are very lucky indeed.

Didsbury is full of smug, self-satisfied media wankers prancing around with their copies of The Guardian and re-usable Unicorn hemp bags. I quite like it really.
