(especially of a place) lacking character and individuality.

Well lets ask the fucking fans to make it more "soulful" then.So a lack of flags will make the Etihad lacking in character and individuality.
I`ve fucking heard it all now and just proven that the words "lost its soul" and "soulless", should never ever be put in the same fucking sentence as football.

The flags / banners have only really become prevalent in the last 3 or 4 years, I don't remember people saying Maine Road was soulless because there were no banners.

Don't mean to upset anybody, but the majority of the banners we've got up are pretty lousy anyway, so if the top tier still has them, personally I'd prefer us to keep the best 20 than have 20 good ones and 20 not so good ones.
Its difficult to put into words but I would I prefer our home stadium to be decorated with fan made banners and flags rather than just be filled with a load of branding for shit energy drinks and airways.

I, it's shit

Digital banners?

Another nail in the coffin.

To enhance the matchday experience even further, City should project holographic images of City fans on to empty seats. In fact, let's get rid of City Square and have a holodeck instead.

Out of curiosity has anyone suggested preserving flags but hanging them with a few feet of slack, so that they hang lower than the LED displays? Maybe not an option, just trying to think of ways to have our cake and eat it too (curse the Yaya nonsense for making me think twice whenever using the word "cake").

Not practical. IIRC, people in the back few rows of tier 1 have their view obstructed when a banner hangs low.

I get where you're coming from, but places like the Nou Camp and Bernabeu have managed to stay full of soul without the fan made banners.

I'm not anti-banners, but I don't think removing the ones off level 2 is going to ruin the atmosphere. It's still going to be the home of the champions!

If you look at the best stadiums in the world, Wembley, Cowboy stadium, the redeveloped Bernabeu, they've all got digital hoarding on level 2, it's probably the future.
