It is time to look to the future. I believe Phil Foden should be starting at least as many matches as David Silva. It is no wonder Phil looked rusty against PNE as he isn't even getting game time with the u23's.
Why would he be playing for the u23's? he is a first team player and has to adhere to the same rotation and showing how much he wants it in training

PEP on Otamendi:
he is better as a right CB for the reason he is right footed.

PEP on City fans not rating CL as high as PL:
Yes, we as a club are aware about that. But honestly I have no idea. Yes, I am intelligent but I don't have a theory. Maybe Utd or Liv fans don't make such a difference between PL and CL because they are used to it for many decades. Our older fan generation in the past was always sitting at home or in the pub to watch Liv and Utd on European nights. We constantly have to be there to seduce our fans, in an incredible competitive competition. We need our fans to win it, without them it's impossible.

Fuck sake pep,the old rags and dippers have more history than us,how many times does he have to fucking say that,it's also pretty fucking obvious why we don't love the CL,for someone who knows everything about everything he doesn't half talk bollocks about us and the CL

My argument back would be the PL, because that is a competition we seem to care about but its equally as corrupt as UEFA. The FA cup is the same.

Ask any city fan, certainly over the last decade, why they don't care much for the competition and they will probably talk to you about corruption and jobs for the boys mentality. Being singled out and not given a fair chance to win it.

For the football club, despite the shit that goes alongside UEFA , it is a tournament we need to win to make further progress. Based on that, I can understand Peps frustration.

The same principles for our disdain apply in every competition we play in. Everyone hates us and every cartel at the level we compete at is generally out to stop us.

I would love to win it purely as a fuck you.

Why we pick this one as the one to hate on is bizarre.

Quick edit. I do understand your pain Kaz. Sometimes I just don't think Pep tells the story right and from what I can gather he does see the CL as a prestigious competition and doesn't always get just how old school city fans are. Bobby manc got us. He completely bought into us as a group of fans. In this particular type of situation I think Pep is a million miles away from us.

He will go down as our greatest ever manager and probably THE greatest ever in the game, but I'll never have the same connection to him as I did Roberto.

Harwood-Bellis at Everton. (It's probably been posted before.)

I'd be tempted to play Garcia and Harwood-Bellis together and play Fern front of them although I think Pep will probably opt for experience in such an important game. If we can win this game, then qualification from the groups will be half done.

The media, for example G Nev during his Sky commentary on Saturday was saying that City would surely buy a central defender in January, but I don't want us to do that, and I am sure most blues wont want that either. Fingers crossed for Laporte to make a full recovery, and for Garcia and Harwood-Bellis to come through together this season.

Agree that Pep will see this as a big step to securing qualification, we will know the Atlanta v Shakhtar result as well before we play, a draw there means the group could essentially be done after four games.

Ideally if we win our next two home games we could rest a few players for the trip to the San Siro just before we go to Anfield. Would be great to see Garcia and Harwood-Bellis get some minutes in this competition.

Again our PR dept has failed. It wouldn't take but 5 mins to sit Pep down and explain the UEFA decisions against us, why the booing of the anthem etc. The communication with the fella sat next to pep and Pep himself is very poor.

I'd go with

Ederson
Cancelo Harwood-Bellis Garcia Angelino
Rodri
Silva Foden
Mahrez Jesus Sterling

24th minute in, talking about us not being in the comp that long etc, and because of that he says something about "influence, decisions" it's his way of saying it's corrupt and we don't get the decisions like the others do? Seems like it. I wish he'd have talked more in depth about that, or a journo had followed that comment up, as it seemed to slip quickly by.

He must know by now why we don't connect to the CL,he never backs us fans up just keeps saying how much he loves it,that and our no history bollocks really gets my back up!

He knows I'm sure, but like I said, the reasons are no different to the shithousery that's going on within the FA etc. Its just a different competition.

Two of the biggest UEFA darlings, he has managed. He's part of that circle and I don't think he will ever fully understand Manchester City and what we are.

In any job you want to achieve as much as possible. The Champions League is the top club competition not the Premier League so naturally Pep wants it. For players the greatest achievement is winning the World Cup, then the Champions League, then their domestic league. Whatever fans think of UEFA, FIFA, etc that is the order and if we want to continue to attract the very top players we need to be trying to win the Champions League. In fairness, judging by the crowd's support at big Champions League games that is what most supporters want once the booing of the anthem is out of the way.

I never thought of it like that,it's a good point about him being in that circle,i get it that he doesn't understand why we don't feel the same but i wish he would stop telling the media that he doesn't know why,as much as he has done for us i don't ever feel like he gets us or is very connected

They have more history than us and n the champions league for sure, we know that he doesn't need to state it and that isn't the reason many hate it.

We embraced the cup winners cup and won it and when we got into the champions league everyone was excited for it. Countless crap we have had to put up with since is why many of us have washed their hands of it. I tried to re engage but getting screwed over by var against Spur's last season was the last straw for me.

Drawing poor opposition in the group stages isn't going to get fan's to part with hard earned cash. Even if it's a fiver a game you still have to add on travel costs and for some time off work. If we draw a big team in the knockout stages and the tie is in the balance we will sell out. Then there is the final. Real fans are given so few tickets for it many who have supported the club all the way will still miss out.

Pep needs to stop rehashing this shit now it is getting boring. We have had full houses in our quarter final ties at home and given the team terrific vocal backing so he is talking nonsense.

Pep was right about Yaya and Bernardo / Mendy so he has to be right about this too.
