Dipper Takeover? [Merged]

Having a family full of scousers my view is... Fuck em! Had nothin but shite via text this week going on about "history" and how "shity city will win naff all this season" but my argument was what will history buy you or win you this coming season or the next. I hope they fold and get screwed into the ground just like the rags. This is purely based on how all the dippers I know act 24/7, they live in a dream where they think they have a right to dine at the top table. They go on about how our money ruins football yet they go on about how they will by "x" when they get taken over... Double standards, and talk of signing messi is laughable!

Completely agree. Hilarious at some of the things I am hearing/reading this morning. Hypocrisy on another level.

Thing is the actual backers have not been confirmed. There are a number of funds in the region the biggest being Chinas and Singapore.

But its s very very unlikely to be the big funds. The investments they normally make - infrastructure etc are solid long term prospects. Property. Things like the national lottery.

Buying a football club is a big gamble no one has ever really made serious money from it, massively speculative. Those funds are not in it for small speculative profit. They are in it to store the nations wealth in stable, sensible solid assets - the exact opposite to a football club.

The people that bought city dont seem to care about making money but there is more in the area and the overall pacakge that makes it more likely than Liverpool (Already have the stadium - 200 acres to redevelope etc)

I would be very surprised if its one the bigger funds it just doesnt fit their profile.

The way its being conducted suggests its more along the lines of the way a smaller hedge fund or venture capatalists work. Trying to buy a distressed asset on the cheap (in a very aggresive manner in this case) stabalise the situation and then sell in the short to medium term for a big profit. The way its being condicted there is nothing to suggest there will be massive amounts of money for transfers and for the stadium redevelopement and even if there is its very unlikley to be on the same terms as CHelsea and city - gratis free no debt involved. It would more along the debt profile of utd but spread over a much longer period.

We will see, part of me even as a city fan wants to see those yanks get fucked on this as there is no doubt they haver run Liverpool into the ground, would be a bit annoying to see them making a big profit for taking the piss so much.

Jesus, don't feel sorry for them, they have enough self pity of their own. They were happy to whore theirselves around for anyone to come in and buy them but unfortunately they didn't get the silver lining they expected and it's all gone Pete Tonge, which i find rather funny.

This from a club who were happy to have the Moores cash flowing in during their 'glorious past' til they sold out, which put them at an unfair advantage but let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story eh! Liverpool in the 70's/80's were like the rags from 90's onwards, always there or thereabouts paying out top dollar in transfers and wages.

Nobody has a divine right to eat at the top table, no matter how much you like to bang on about history. History is the past!!!

Just to be clear the only way this deal is happening is if they can get Liverpool on the cheap - that means them getting the debt at a distressed discounted rate from RBS.

RBS is now being run by the government in a very conservative manner I can tell you. So this is far from certain. Financially its not a good deal for RBS and there are significant risks to taking the deal in terms of potential legal action and blow back if things go wrong being a high profile football club.

If they can buy the debt they can then call it in, October and make the Yanks sell the club to them for what they paid which means overall they will only be paying about £400 million for Liverpool including the debt.

Thats the real world value of the club consider they desperately need a new stadium (£300 - £400 million), and currently no champions league football (£100 million on players to be a cert plus what they have) Still potentially costing £900 million when Arsenals market cap with the best ground in the country is £650 million and the Glazers only paid £700 million for the rags all in.

I am very sceptical as to if this will actually happen TBH. The financials are not there as any sort of sound investment which is why its very unlikley to be one of the major sovereign wealth funds.

Anyway who cares? The more clubs that have money, the better for the game and we're then on a more level playing field at the top of the league.

Instead of 3 or 4 clubs dominating, we could have 7 or 8 battling it out and it will come down to who has the best management, like it used to be pre-Sky days.

This is true I was just saying i dont think there is big money in this deal.

i never said it would, it just puts us into a position to give us a crack at it.

if you think money cant do anything the alternative doesn't bare thinking about. ask Leeds who haven't got enough money to keep there own academy players never mind buy the quality to force there way into the prem,

there will never be a notts forest, Ipswich, burnley Preston, or even a Leeds win a major unless they have a massive injection of the dreaded cash.

and that is fucking sad... I wish there was a salary and transfer cap for all clubs. Slightly lower than what the top 10 clubs in the world are spending right now. Unlimited spending allowed on infrastructure.

I would like this eventually but not before we´ve had OUR day AND rubbed THEIR shitty noses in it first - they started sucking the devils cock hopefully we´ll bite his bollox off!!

The scousers have always prided themselves over how socially concious they are ( and rightfully so I think) I just wonder how they will now square the fact that they might be owned or funded by a totalitarian government with an awful human rights record.

Just like the socially conscious way they tried to absolve theirselves of any blame for Heysel?
