An interesting read on specialist CL managers which includes some words on Pellegrini.

It was an interesting read and highlights the need to adapt a team to the particular challenges of the CL as opposed to a domestic league with its different challenges.

The article states with respect to the appointment of Pellers 'the European records of Ancelotti and Pellegrini were key to those decisions.' If that is the case then why on earth did we not appoint Rafa Benitez who a) has a much superior CL record to Pellegrini and b) has more than a passing knowledge of the PL both of which are assets that should have made it a no brainer?

I keep coming back to this but we cannot attest that the European record of Pellegrini is the key factor in his appointment when Benitez has a much superior record i.e. actually winning the damn thing plus the advantage of knowing the domestic setup. The conclusion surely is that the appointment of Pellegrini had as much to do with other factors. One of which is perhaps doing things that Rafa cannot do which is shutting up and not objecting to decisions about the squad he may not agree with.

I have to hand it to you Billy I know every time someone is accused of clinging onto our glorious past under RM you will come a calling and a river will be cried.

We are drowning in your trolling and obsession with all things past.

For me I agree with you that RM had his day it was time to move although I couldn't give a rats if we gave him another year or not in the end.

I get chastised for having a tat a tat with a couple of pseudo aussies by cleavers and you get off scott free.

No doubt aussies get a bumb rap on this forum.

Time to give it up Billy stop lauding your love for Jethro Tull we know it and its time to move on mate.

Your much better when you talk about the present and the future but the hole you continue to dig on the past management of this club is sufficating you good and proper.

How about you become a model to lets have a RM free zone on this forum , when you give it up others will follow.

I know you and DD consider yourselves trend setters for the future.

Anybody???

Jethro Tull = Living in the Past.

You need to go to Tolmie Hairdoo's school of cryptic's mate.

Damn. I thought it was 'Thick as a Brick'...which personally I thought was harsh given that Billy isn't. Now if it had been DD I'd have nailed it.

Disclaimer. The above picture is a light hearted moment of banter and is not to be confused with cyber bullying for which there are severe penalties in Australia, or so we are led to believe.

Surely not that many , I know it was good but I cannot take all the credit you played your part as well don't forget.

I would think Rafa was passed over for the other factors that you have regularly highlighted. Whatever the reasons, he was clearly passed over it is a fact that he would have crawled up the M1/M6 on his knees for the City job (I assume in reality he has a home on the Wirral but...).

Must admit that I could not bring myself to plump for Rafa for City; although he was my first choice for the England job. I would not trust the guy with a cheque book but that should be less of a concern with a DoF. I am certain Rafa would win things at City.

It's a few hours shy of match time this evening and with that comes renewed hope, optimism and expectation. I have kept myself succoured and nourished on the wise words of Graham Hunter during his interview with Ginger Durham on TS in the summer.

Onwards and upwards with MP but please Manuel show us you've seen what we've all seen and have fixed it.

Come on City.

WARNING

if the personal back biting continues and I end up having to clean up the thread yet again, I shall be dishing out some short bans so that other posters can just get on with slagging the team, the players, the management and the fans.

Here Here , swearing and personal abuse prevents me from allowing my two grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews who are being groomed in all things blue to come on this forum at least on my PC.

its poor form.

Witty and dry humour should be ok as long as it doesn't get personal.

Calling posters names and swearing directly at them is tantamount to cyber bullying and lead to bigger issues.

There are stiff penalties for such conduct over here under our new laws.

Make your point with passion and vigour by all means but why the need for personal abuse and name calling is beyond me.

I can't even begin to explain how insulted I am by being referred to as a "psuedo Aussie" if that was directed at Exeter and me. I am a Mancunian, born and bred. and have never been anywhere near Australia.

Kappish?

It was directed at others than you OB1 and Exeter , don't flatter yourself you missed all the fun after the two of you went to bed.

Your a bit paranoid with all due respect.

I actually went into bat for you when I got my PM's from the mods.

I could think of some others we could have gone for arguably better credentialed as well but lets assume that the director of football had a major say in who was appointed until his memoirs state otherwise.

An Aussie going into bat, now that is a worry;-)

My outrage was mock anyway, just for the record.
