I doubt any City fan would want the opposition to win to prove a point. That said in my mind it is now confirmed that Pellegrini is inept and frankly the sooner he is gone the better.

Genuine question .... who would you like to replace Pellegrini? Try and be realistic though ... be interesting to see who the candidates are who you think can and will do a better job than the gaffer.

I'm also lying saying that things are not improving. They are - but far, far too slowly to help us win the league or qualify for the CL this season.
For example, "The press" play is improving - game on game - but very very slowly. By about the end of March it should be of sufficient quality to win stuff.

To be honest then mate ... we've not got much to worry about. If even by your standards by mid march we'll be firing on all cylinders then all's well. Every manager deserves some time to implement their ideas and beliefs on the squad and also have the opportunity to shape the squad how they want. Pellegrini is working on things. He will have January to shape the squad a little more.

One trophy this season will be fine ... we can wait until next for a double ... :)

Simple question mate, who will depart ?

I can see a few putting in requests mate tbh

Over the next two windows Lescott and Kolarov will definitely go IMO. Garcia likely in the summer. Pellegrini wanted another attacking midfield player in the summer but missed out on Isco so I think it's feasible we'll go in for another one either January or next summer - plus replacements for the players I've just mentioned.

We have had unbelievably bad luck regarding injuries from the start of the season. Our results away have not reflected the way the team have played. Pellegrini changes things around when we are losing and must be frustrated with the results himself. These next fixtures with top teams playing each other will enable us to move up the table, and we do have a great record at home to compensate for the dropped points away.

Our injury problems are no different than last season. The squad is big enough - we should cope.
When you have a problem with the Keeper, and the then your central defender and Captain is out, plus deputies then you have a very big problem which Guardiola, Bill Shankly, Brian Clough etc would struggle with

That doesn't make Pellegrini a good manager, but it does mean that he has had a significant problem to grapple with.

Surely/hopefully Dzeko is going to leave at some point soon. And although I'd personally be sad to see him go as I think he is a decent squad player, I wouldn't be surprised to see Milner go in Jan to try and get some regular football before the world cup. Pellegrini doesn't seem to particularly rate him. Although who would be able to afford his wages, I'm not sure.

Would be surprised if Lescott didn't leave in jan, but apart from him there is no one else I can realistically see going. Lescott will want an England slot, so he will want guarenteed starts. Everyone else is either in their squad already, or their team hasn't qualified.

If we sell Milner, I'll be very annoyed. I agree he gets a raw deal. Should play a lot more often and centrally

A major issue this season has been poor defensive performances and injuries. Pellegrini will not alter his ideology towards how he wants us to play. He wants to win games and when looking at his managerial record his teams do not draw, they usually have high win and loss rates. In a game that is 1-1 with 10 mins left we will look to win the game. This is a good thing in my opinion. That mentality will see you win more often than you will lose. The rags did the same for years, they went for the win and usually got it. It wasn't often that with all their pressing they were pipped and conceded last minute. If I was managing City as we are right now, I would go into the next away game and sacrifice style and performance. I would play the same back 4 as plays the game before - if injuries allow, and I would play a 5 man midfield with a defensive midfielder. I would ask the players to work hard to make sure they did not concede. I would ask them for a clean sheet. I would then build on that moving forward. But there is nothing to say it would work. Maybe it would be a loss or a draw, and again that is not good enough. But I think I would go back to basics.

Pellegrini is different in that he wants the team to win games. He wants the team to play a certain way and he knows they can and should win. Away at Cardiff it wasn't a great performance, it was a poor result from some poor defending. Away at Villa it was a decent performance and a game we deserved to win really. But again poor defending cost us. Chelsea, deserved something from the game, mistake and we lost. Sunderland, mistake and we lost. The performances are good, we are creating chances but we are not anywhere near the same team away as we are at home. That needs to change. I look at the players we have and I do believe more needs to be done defensively, we can shed a few that are not good enough and bring a few in. But mentality for me is the key to our away form. Why is it that a team can win 7-0 and 5-2 yet look so flat and uninterested in the next game away from home? Mentality is key. Players like Lescott, Kolorov, Yaya all perform so well at home yet away they barely turn up or are found lacking. I will be watching closely with the next away game to see if Pellegrini decides it is time to be more reserved or if he continues to demand the style and play that we have at home.

Its Gung Ho football, it may work in the tippy tappy world of La Liga when your four biggest games are Barca and Madrid home and away but this league is a different cup of tea altogether.

We haven't even played United,Arsenal,Liverpool,Tottenham & Everton away yet let alone the other banana skins that frequently trip us up.

This all or nothing gameplay will win us nothing.

His managerial stats give him a 49% win rate and a 25% loss rate, take into account his 75% win rate with Madrid in a two horse race that have massaged his figures then the way we are playing echoes his stats to perfection.

Billy will now say stats prove fuck all and did you watch his Villareal side play, well yes i did as it happens and he won nothing there either, hes naive in this league and will lose plenty more games this season.

Another attacking midfielder? I though everything in the garden was rosey in that department? How many attacking midfielders do we need?

-- Fri Nov 15, 2013 11:43 am --

He should be playing every week mate, all day long over Navas or Garcia for me, trouble is hes's one who i think will put a request in-it seems clear as day to me that Manuel doesn't understand how important Milner is or simply doesnt rate him.

Milner is a very underestimated player in my opinion.

Isn't Bielsa supposed to be a bit of a loon in terms of man management? Not sure that would go down well with our squad after 3+ years of Mancini barking at them.

Haha. Sort of ... he's certainly closer to the Van Gaal school of management than anyone else!

Ha, ha, ha. People would rather have Bielsa than Pellegrini.

This place really is becoming more and more of a lunatic asylum.

I agree with all that.

I would go back to basics and when Mancini did that on his arrival, I lauded (not on this website). However, we have gone for a different manager and we are a different proposition to the one Pellegrini took over. I believe that there is more than one way to skin a cat and just because I would do it differently does not mean that I am not prepared to accept that our manager wants (and may have a mandate) to do it in another fashion. I am also damn sure that he is far better qualified and positioned to decide what will work.

-- Fri Nov 15, 2013 11:22 am --

True but his track record does in fact suggest that he is a very good manager.
