Trophies don't guarantee you top jobs. It's a weird one that. Benitez and Mancini are just two managers with fantastic trophy records across various competitions yet neither manager is going to be at the top 5/10 clubs in the world anytime soon.

Neither Benitez or Mancini are really known for playing especially attractive football and also both have a bit of a reputation as being difficult to work with. Factors which I am sure account for that as both are very successful. I believe Mancini has won trophies at every club he's been at, so I was surprised to see him end up in Turkey.

Still if the benchmark is trophies won then you'd expect guys like them to be at least being considered for the top jobs. I think in Rafa's case he could've gone to PSG but they fucked him around.

I definitely think a lot of clubs are wary of overly political managers who like to start fires in and around the club. It's true that both Rafa and Roberto (along with Mou) are very prone to that.

Rather that than cuddly old labrador's in the twilight of there managerial careers.

Will TB and FS peddle him if God forbid we dont qualify for CL?

Or will they peddle the line that he needs time blah blah blah.

despite my misgivings regarding the sacking of mancini pelligrini was a decent replacement at the time, he still may be. my beef is all this mid table shit could so been avoided by keeping mancini in the first place. people would be miffed or will have left but one thing for certain we'd be top of the league.

I'm not sure if Vinny and several other key first team players leaving would've ensured we were top of the league mate ... ;)

Very likely that if we fail to make top four our big hitters will want away and you can kiss passing the FFP restrictions to boot. If so Txixi may aswell collect his P45 on his way to the airport.

If we fail to make the top 4 it'll be the disaster on an epic scale. I would expect Pellegrini to lose his job. I would expect Bluemoon to be shut for the summer. I would expect absolute chaos on the press. And yes, I'd expect most of our big hitters to want away.

It's a good thing it's all hypothetical hey ... ;)

I'm sure as long as he stays off Bluemoon and sticks to the reality of what's going on he'll have no need to be worrying about contingency plans :)

If we fail to make the top 4 FFP won't matter anyway!

Just as the Mancini threads of last season became ever so tedious, as has this one. It's the exact same conversations between many of the same posters but inners are now outers and vice versa.

For what it's worth, I loved Mancini and what he did for us and whilst he might have been more charming and fan-friendly than the reserved Pellegrini, I still think the right decision was made and I believe we'll definitely make top 4, I also think we'll win the league.

I think Pellegrini will be here for a good number of years, firstly as he was the first appointment by the Spanish contingent and so he will be given a bit more time, and also he has been identified to fit in the model the club wishes to follow. Whether we agree or not Mancini wanted more control of the running of the playing side of the club and many manager would be ruled out as they would probably also want significant control.

I just hope he either alters the tactics to suit the personnel he has at his disposal or alternatively is given free rein to bring the players in he things would suit the tactics. At the moment we are somewhere in between hence the poor results,.

one thing I detest is player power. besides they signed for Manchester city and not for mancini. we are the only club in world football that can throw them in with the stiffs and buy new ones. look at the rags with the granny shagger. they had no choice but to suck his dick when he threw a strop. we don't have to do that with ANY player. mancini and his manmanagement is no different to pelligrini, do what you like but win stuff. well i'm not convinced that mr nice will win us anything, that's not just this manager but any. these players are at the top of the game and have ego's to match. suck up to them and they'll lead you a dance.

we have just blown the best chance ever of dominating the cash cow that is association football.
