Has it been revealed yet who it is we are supposed to be waiting on a call from and/or negotiating with their current club? I think this was yesterday about a zillion pages back.

If we are sticking by Pellegrini and blaming the players then why would we be waiting urgently on any call?

Also still concerned about this public naming and shaming of Dzeko, Toure and Nasri. Unless the plan is that they don't play any more this season is the expectation that this is going to wound their pride ahead of this weekend, as it could just as easily translate into - why the hell should we bother running after a 50/50 ball and risk injury if we are now looking ahead a few weeks to the best transfer we can get.

No , because there is a fine art to pretending to be in the know. Never be specific about the details of your supposed information

Fair enough - though it seemed to be reliable sources.

I was just wondering given the subsequent briefings from the club if something maybe happened.

Like Mr X said 'no'?

Lets hope Atletico&Simeone rips apart Real&Ancelotti tonight. That way and with Barca winning the league would be the end for Ancelotti.

But how would he give an answer to us until he is 100% out of CL and the league title I dont know. To be fair they could win CL+La Liga as well, why would Perez fire him then...

Ancelotti doesn't want to harm their chances of winning trophies and by making an announcement now will make them lose all their focus.

Just been thinking given the discussion on here and the seeming hesitance to make a change at the top if they should not run an unofficial Ex Factor competition this weekend.

Let Pellegrini organise the first half with his tactics and any subs and Patrick V do the same in the second half.

Then let everyone at the game vote who they think should be the manager for the next match based on the outcome. The players votes will speak for themselves.

Would be more interesting than the usual post match managerial interview.

Plus it would possibly stir Pellegrini into life on the sidelines.

He'll be still be there end of next season.
And I've no problem with having to sack him for winding up a bunch of trophy winners. It's a better alternative than sacking a manager for upsetting a bunch of non trophy winning mard-arses!

What exactly have United won this year or within a decent shout to win?

Basically United are in the same position as City. Neither of us have won anything. But their team has spent a huge amount of cash and their manager is a year closer to exploding

He's also benched or slated most of those new signings including calling Shaw overweight and unfit and Falcao lazy... Di Maria and Rojo on the bench. The only two he's played are Herrera and Blind. He's spent a hell of a lot of money yet his team was Blind, Jones, Smalling, Valencia in the back 4. Had we not been so dross we would and should have battered them. He doesn't have a clue what his strategy is. He doesn't get on well with people and he's far too disruptive. It won't be long before the apparent "success" of this season will be replaced with actual ambition to win things. When he doesn't the squad will turn on him and he'll lose players like Di Maria and Falcao and others will refuse to work for him. That's fine as he'll have the likes of Young and Fellaini there but as good as they might be form wise, they won't win you titles.

I hope you're right!... but I can't seeing him gone in 12 months, and I'd certainly have swapped his improvement for our decline this season!

Had we not been so dross is true... but we were. If he's not got a clue about what his strategy is, it doesn't say much for someone like Pellegrini who also doesn't know, or if he does, he's adopted the wrong one!
I'm sure, eventually, it will go tits up, as it does for most managers, but I give him more than 12 months.

Actually I said that United's executive team has no idea what to do as a plan rather than Van Gaal. Having followed Van Gaal for quite a few years, I already know that he thinks he has some masterplan and when it all goes tits up he'll blame the media for costing him his job and blame the players for not being tactically intelligent enough to understand his masterplan. Another trick he pulls every place he goes to.

Ancelotti will not make his decision until Laliga ends and RM ends up winning nothing

RM is 2 points behind Barca but if they have the same points RM will win the league due to head-to-head result

So we may not want to sack Pellegrini early and ends up with no top manager available

We can assume that Soriano and Txiki are responsible for the press reports that Pellegrini is safe for now, but what does Khaldoon think?

Meanwhile if you were Silva, or Aguero how long would you tolerate this farce? City are playing with fire by sitting on our hands and hoping for the best. It really is difficult to see how this wait and see approach can be justified.

This is an organisation that wants to supplant Man Utd, take on Barcelona and Real Madrid and set up an international ring of football clubs to dominate the world game. It's almost funny.

No point saying Get a Grip City! No one is there apart from a crowd of vultures looking on and laughing their heads off.

Wow...If comedy was ever needed then this thread is pure Gold !.

Man City will be an exremely fortunate team to have Rafa Benitez guiding them through a period of legacy building.

The Guy is a "Caricature" in the Media, because he does not bow donw to their whims, or does briefing, or believes in any PR, or likes to be onside with the Media.

He does not speak to the Sun, has sent legal letters to talk sport and fat boy Danny Kelly, has fallen out with Sky Sports and there pundits, by rectifying their wrong assessments, such as " Zonal Marking", Substitutions, Rotation, use of 4-2-3-1, Gerrard not a CM, disagreemenst with Ferguson, Mourinho, and that created the negatitive attiutudes of Dciks like Henry Wanker, Patrick Barclay and the other Fleet Street members.

you know the most common of tactics, and squad usage that people are using without any questions in 2015, but it was a major bone of contention for the Likes of Richard Keys, Andy Gray, and Shitty Redknapp, football experts without having any expertise.

The Xenophobic attiutude of mainstream media towrds Rafa is the reason behind his Public Profile being ridiculously Bad, but he does not Public Relations like Rodgers, Mourinho, Ferguson, Allardyce, Bruce and the rest to correct his wrong image, he just lets results speak for them selves, at the most limited of clubs, Valencia, Liverpool, Inter Milan ( 0 Investment, Mourinho spent all Moratti's money on buying over aged players with no resale value, where are Inter Milan now ?) but still won 2 trophies lost 1 trophy, qualified out of the group stages quicker than mourinho and had 2 games in hand before departure and arguement Chelsea Joined December alraedy out of Champions League hated by all Chelsea fans every game ( imagine your workplace in that condition) "0" investment, 50 games in 6 months , average 2 PPG, Europa League win, WC runner up, Semi Fianlists in LC , and FA Cup. Napoli, Annual Revenue less than Swansea, spent Cavani Money on Higuain, Callejon, Mertens, 78 points last year the biggest in history, Italian Cup winner, Italian Super Coppa Winner, can achieve the Europa League, and finish second of third with and club made a net profit of £20 million in the summer just gone, so how do you become title winner in that budget , shopping at LIDL, while Juventus, AC Milan, Inter, and even Roma are at Waitrose !

Just to sum up Rafa Benitez to Man City , well the guy has 13 trophies to his name since 2001 , with a 2 season break in the middle, while Losing another European Cup final, 2 WC final, , League cup final, UEFA Super cup final, Spanish coppa final, the main protagonist for the "now fashionable and common " 4-2-3-1 system, with high pressing, , 2 X World manager of the year, ...and soon to be the darling of all Blue Moon, ..it will only take 10 games before his name is sung .in admiration...you be really lucky if its him !

Passionate post. I like it.

Me too - if it's true . Gives hope . Have to check .
Might suit city. Certainly needs consideration .

Considering they all had a board meeting together yesterday and wouldn't leak this stuff off of their own backs, Khaldoon and the Sheikh obviously think the same.

DISASSOCIATED PRESS RELEASE:

Manchester City have confirmed that Manuel Pellegrini will remain at the Etihad until the end of the season.
Representatives of the club confirmed that due to ongoing stadium work involving multiple cranes and a workforce of over 160 contractors, Health and Safety regulations have ruled out the possibility of an interim manager being parachuted in.

Mr Jo B. Sworth stated "A full risk assessment has been carried out, and we can confirm that the cranes pose a genuine risk, even to an experience parachuting manager like Mr Benitez. When we combined that with the potential damage to morale and loss of spectator consciousness on matchdays, it became apparent that the safest approach was to await the arrival of a specialist team from Abu Dhabi to resolve the situation'.

Mr Benitez was unavailable for comment until the end of his mid afternoon shift at an undisclosed restaurant, believed to offer tapas and other fine Spanish cuisine.

Well, that's that then.

"potential damage to morale and loss of spectator consciousness on matchdays, "

Lol hilarious .
