Who else? Surely we have to go with pace? Think this is probably our quickest side. Then again WTF do I know.
Well for one its not tonight, and secondly one of those is suspended.

FFS. Clichy. Ill get me coat.

I dont believe we need the complete overhaul some people are suggesting. The actual team we have are a championship winning team who play well together. They lack inspiration though and that is what Maurinho for example gives to the very average Chelsea players.

He deserves at least to see out his contract because of what happened in his first season in charge and this season he nearly broke a 102 year record of most wins in a row (typical City and Burnley ended that).

Now the emotions of seeing our title defence almost certainly crash and burn have calmed in me a little I have to say I agree with every word of this.

It would also be somewhat hypocritical of me to feel otherwise seeing as how I wanted the previous manager to stay for exactly the same reasons.

I don't believe we will finish outside the top 4 but if we were to that would surely have to mean the end for MP, but I honestly think that's not going to happen.

As others have said, FFP is a red herring in this case. We've spent tens and tens of millions over the last two seasons.we just havent spent it wisely. I don't blame the manager for this though, but that's a topic for the txiki thread.

3rd with an fa cup, 1st, 2nd with a cup final, 1st with a league cup, and (probably) 2nd has been the best 5 years of mine or any other city fans life.

Any other club in the country, absolutely ANY other club would swap their record over the last five years for ours.

I fucking love this club. The bastards.

Kazzy I often disagree with your opinions.

However these are very eloquent words. Sometimes it's easy to forget where we came from, and where we are now, which is approaching the football stratosphere.

Pellegrini will probably be part of our football history if we don't make the top 4. However looking at our draw it's hard to imagine that happening.

So well said. I respect both what you have stated, and the way you have expressed it.

Thanks a lot mate for your kind words.

I'm a bit of a nightmare sometimes with my opinions on here. Football is a very emotional subject for all of us so a good rule of thumb where my posts are concerned is :

- If it's in a post match thread, ignore it, it'll almost certainly be the result of highly charged emotions which i invariably regret posting a day or two later.
- ditto if I'm replying to a wum.
- and ditto again if it's in a political or Middle East thread.

I'm quite nice in real life, but I suppose that's what's great about bluemoon. It's better to have a rant or let off some steam in here, even if that sometimes involves crossing a line, than to bottle it all up and lose it "in real life"!!!

Thanks again

So true. Many of us on here could follow your sound advice

Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

This interview of his doesn't seem to have gone over well with certain members of the press. Several journos including Hayward and McDonnell have the knives out, suggesting he is shifting blame from himself on to the players and things like FFP. tbh you really have to think the players deserve much of the blame because we saw the exact same thing in 2012/13 with a complete opposite to Pellegrini in charge.

They have spent the last few days on here I would guess!

2 reasons,
1. its a story, so it gives them a further reason to have a dig at City, and
2. he didn't do the interview with them, and they're all bitter shithouses.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

very impressed with that article ,well done Manuel ,I feel its about time he opened up a little because his pressers can be a bit zzzzzz
I was abit angry on sat/sun and said he needs to go ,after calming down a little and reading that as long as he gets us into the top 4 id be happy for him to give it one more shot next season,
I actually like the fella

Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

As interviews go, I thought it was rather good, however, it was littered with comparisons and observations (on his part) that just didn't sound plausible.

He's correct in saying United and Chelsea have spent more than us this season, and the teams like Arsenal and Spurs could be comparable (this season), but the general public opinion, and probably that of any sane City fan is that in the last 5 years or so, we've spent much more than others.
His inference that Spurs can be considered on a par with us is just not going to wash.
He also makes mention of wanting to progress. As a club, we have. We've better finances this year, and an increased capacity, not to mention the opening of the collar site. But on the pitch, nobody in their right mind can consider this season 'progress'. It MAY turn out that some of our signings are a step back in order to step forward next season... but that's clutching as straws.

We'll also get little sympathy with any FFP argument. For anybody but the passioned City fan, City cannot hold any credible argument about having spending curtailed this season. Nobody will buy it, and it sounds churlish.

Other than that, he's a very likeable guy and comes across better in this interview than he does on TV.
Initially his TV appearances were quite good, but as time has progressed, there's little variation in his demeanour, and it can come across as lacking in much passion. When we are winning, he's too cool for school, but when we are losing, a little bit of anger / emotion wouldn't go amiss.

Sadly I fear it may all be a little too late for him. Even if he doesn't leave City this season, the tide has started to turn, and it's very hard to turn around fans once doubts set in. A stunning finish to the season might help, but doubts will still linger.

I'm irritated by poor tactics, but I'm completely fed up of changing managers, and most of all, I'm tired of seeing players willing to contribute when things are going well, but going missing when things aren't so good.

I'd like the team to start backing the manager, and doing so with good performances.... they MIGHT just save him. He's worth saving isn't he?

Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

Pellegrini has shown that he can lead us to success. A cup double and consecutively reaching the latter stages of the CL shows that.

However, the club need to back him 100% and let him have a huge influence on the next bunch of players who will make the core of our squad.

So far we have had the same core of the squad for 5 seasons. We haven't added anyone, aside for potentially Mangala, who will be irreplaceable.

It would just be unfair IMO if we got rid of Pellegrini without giving him that chance to establish his own squad. Especially when many of the players he inherited have form for underperforming and getting a manager the sack.

Although if Pep becomes available then the matter of fairness does not apply.
