Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

I'm devided on my stance because yes the players are being frankly a bunch of lazy bastard's My concern is the things that manuel does have a say in and the responsibility, all aspects of our set pieces from attacking corners to defending them( we don't leave anyone up the field on defending corners) to free kicks where we have someone laying it off allowing it to be charged down. Basicly all aspects of our match day organisation is just poor.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini (interesting interview pg 115)

I can live with going out tomorrow night to barcelona, but what I want to see win lose or draw is a genuine team effort from the players and a bit of fucking management from the bench. if that doesn't happen then tomorrow should be his last game in charge. I've had enough of cheap talk from the players, half hearted performances and clueless team selection.

This interview of his doesn't seem to have gone over well with certain members of the press. Several journos including Hayward and McDonnell have the knives out, suggesting he is shifting blame from himself on to the players and things like FFP. tbh you really have to think the players deserve much of the blame because we saw the exact same thing in 2012/13 with a complete opposite to Pellegrini in charge.
2 reasons,
1. its a story, so it gives them a further reason to have a dig at City, and
2. he didn't do the interview with them, and they're all bitter shithouses.

I'm going for number 2

Could prove to be a very testing time for those who have their hearts and minds firmly set on him leaving.

Must admit that my view has mellowed since Saturday. There's some things which I think will be important if he does stay this summer, probably the most important being to ensure that we don't add to the squad in such a manner that we continue to buy players solely to play in a 442 system. The root of that is the 4 strikers in the squad thing which we've had since Mancini was in charge. I'd like to see Jovetic leave, and for us to replace him with a 'crack' winger - thus leaving us with Dzeko, Kun, and Bony as the three forwards. The other thing we need to look at desperately is a genuine ball playing midfield player (like Gundogan or Verrati). Again this type of player may not be suited to playing in a 442 but is a kind of player we absolutely need in the squad.

The key will be the turnover of players this summer. It certainly seems like all the noises are that after three years of limited spending due to FFP we can go out and add real first XI players to the squad. I personally expect that we'll see three/four new faces in the best XI next season. Could make all the difference.

Anyway onwards and upwards for tonight and the rest of the season.

Pellers isn't fazed. He knows he'll get another chance at managing a top football club. Napoli would be great for him - good, hungry players that he can take to the next level and get another street name. Credit he cannot get at City because he's got the best team (sic). All I know there will be plenty of regrets if he goes soon.

All this rearguard support based on liking the guy and the initial good season - does it come with provisos that we finish top 4 or is it without any such onus and made on the understanding that he will be backed and transform his tactics, selections, set plays, man management over the summer.
At what point will he be accountable?

There has been a fascinating groundswell of support for him today. Having witnessed recent performances first hand I'm genuinely perplexed.

Me too. Words are cheap. Both his and the players. The idea that our pathetic performances are down to FFP is ludicrous. We still have an amazing squad, the bench against Burnley was probably as good a bench as you could find anywhere in world football.

He needs to look closer to home. The ridiculous team selections. Alienation of Jovetic. Pushing for Bony, who though good was not essential, then not playing him. And the defensive rotation.

Search back to THAT particular topic and you will find nearly everyone on here agreed on forehand. Now you blame him. How shrewed...

It was bad man management-whoever it came from, it wont have gone down well with the Balkan boys who have an all for one and one for all mentality, it cant have gone down well in the dressing room whichever way you dress it up.

All we have heard since he came is how good his man management is and has been at previous clubs, its an example that that's no always the case, Navas in the squad ,Navas out, ditto Milner, ditto Nasri, makes you wonder what some of the players think of him.

Everybody has mellowed since Saturday, i made a conscious effort to turn the telly off soon as the whistle blew and play with my two year old-he always points at the telly when City are on away and shouts City goal-not today son not today.

Everybody is realising pretty quickly that in all likelihood he will see out his contract, or should i say the three years, that interview nailed it to me, at the training ground in his office and not some hotel foyer. He will be gone when the man they want becomes available, rightly or wrongly the players know it aswell.
