I don't agree they can't play together. Second half against Newcastle and the Sunderland game they linked up together superbly with Silva in the middle and De Bruyne on the left.

I keep seeing this idea mentioned that Silva should be dropped and KDB played at 10. I just cannot get my head around that idea whatsoever. I wonder whether people have actually been watching the games this season, or they just want a shiny new toy to play with.

Our best form of the season was the first 5 games. We won every game and didn't concede a goal. Silva at 10, De Bruyne not playing.

Our worst run of form was the 8 weeks that Silva was out, our points per game was similar to Chelsea. De Bruyne at 10, Silva not playing.

Neecastle at home in the first 30 minutes, De Bruyne at 10, Silva on the left. The worst we've played at home since Frank Clarke was the manager. On 30 minutes they switched, Silva to 10, De Bruyne left, we scored 6 goals in 20 minutes.

The only game we've played well in without Silva was Sevilla away. De Bruyne didn't play.

So for all of those that are pushing for Silva to be dropped and for De Bruyne to play at number 10, can you please answer this question:

Please give specific examples of games where De Bruyne has played as a number 10 and we've played well as a TEAM.

For me its crazy to think they cant play together. I see the problem more along the lines of who plays with them. I think the biggest mistake is thinking that we can play Silva, KDB, Sterling, Aguero AND include Yaya in the middle. If we play Yaya then Sterling has to make way and we play another midfielder, problem is we don't have a top class 3rd midfielder and we effectively drop a £44m signing for Delph or Fernando :-(! We could drop Yaya but lets face it, as bad as some of his performances are we dont have anyone who can replace him.

The balance of the squad is all wrong in my opinion, we only have a good squad for the final 3rd of the pitch.

imo we have too many play makers who are best put into the number 10 position but we can't because we have 4 playmakers (nasri, kdb, silva and toure) and only one slot to play them in to fully utilize them. I dont think we can accomodate more than one of them anymore against a top team that presses us due to how little defensive work they all do

It really worries me what kind of "supporters" we're now attracting to the club that there are people who are seriously calling for our greatest player of all time moved on.

He's 30, it's not like he's passed his sell by date. Before he got injured he was in the form on his life. The first 5 games this season is probably the best football we have played since the takeover, and Silva was absolutely running the show.

We're not playing well at the moment, but Silva not playing well isn't the problem, it's a symptom. The problem is in midfield. Fernandinho is doing the work of two men and we're not dominating the middle of the park like we did earlier in the season. Also playing natural wide players like Navas frees up more room in the middle for Silva to do what he does best, and he's not be starting recently. Probably because Navas' name doesn't "roll off the tongue in Beijing".

A lot of the posters calling for us to move Silva on are the same posters who shelled Mancini the whole time he was here. The same posters who said Pellegrini is a world class manager. So I guess we shouldn't take them too seriously.

We shall see Marvin. Would you agree he's too good to be a "squad" player?
Hahahaha! You've been banging this drum for a while now - in fact ever since you declared KDB to be the best player we've ever had after a handful of games. Now since you've backed yourself into a corner and aren't capable of adjusting your views after its been shown he's not in fact the best ever, just another good addition who has some great, some not so great games, you're going to be pushing post after post how Silvas days are numbered.
It's crept in slowly but surely the last few weeks that Silva is suddenly past it after having four or five average games after returning from injury. The fact he was MOTM in four out of the the first 5 games seems lost on some of our wannabe revolutionaries.
I'll answer your question. Yes, he's too good to be a squad player. Thankfully I'll trust the judgement of those involved at the top echelons of the game over some bloke with an over inflated opinion of himself on the Internet.

"We shall see" - fucking right we will.

Silva aside, they commented on the behind the scenes shit that Mancini was causing, got told bollox it isnt like that and ultimately got proved right.

Pellegrini is a world class manager, his record shows that and is amongst an elite. You dont get to manage the clubs he has and win the things he has if not.

Pep sold Schweinsteiger. I'm sure he can make a big call if he needs to. Maybe Silva can play a lesser role next season if Toure goes depending on what system we play. For me though Silva has to really raise his game in the coming weeks and months. The competiton for places in attack is only going to get fiercer and players 30+ aren't going to be getting favoritism under Pep based on their history.

I think that Toure will go come the summer. As you say, the picture with Silva is uncertain. He looks unhappy to me. Maybe he fancies his last few years in Spain. I dunno. He may just not be fit yet and that frustrates him. Again, I'd give him more time off if he wants it and have him fighting fit for the CL.

Im not sure if silva will be able to adapt if pep turns up he just doesnt work hard enough defensivley and pep may see kdb age and goal threat as more beneficial to the team. He got rid of toure in his prime i soubt he'll have much of a problem doing it now. Honestly nasri and toure we'll both probably leave in he summer and we'll be left with kdb and silva and thats fine considering theres only really one spot in the line up for them to play at their best.
