"this whole forum has talked about Pep coming for 12 months". Reality not your strong point is it?

"nearly everyone" - go on, elucidate, just how did you come to this ground-breaking certainty? Let me guess - you looked at the number of pages on a particular thread (or maybe even the "whole forum") and you put some ticks on a page. And, hey fucking presto, we have a winner - Pep! I'd recommend you take your own head out of your own arse, but, based on your previous insightful nuggets and pearls of wisdom, I fear that may be beyond your intellectual capacity.
Go to bed its late

I agree that 3 CB shite never worked but he persisted with it causing his own downfall in the end and like you say Pelle and the coaching staff have got a lot to do if they are to get the defence back on track in the coming weeks, might get away with it against West Brom, not in game 2 though.

I can accept the injuries etc he has had causing a problem, but the stuff lije Kolarov running behind the back 4, playing everyone onside, etc, suggests a lack of quality work imo. If was still happening today.

Well we'll have to differ on that. I said quite quickly that I thought he was too slow, soft as shite & shit in the air & predicted he'd probably be gone round about now. Having said that, he would struggle to be as shit as Vinny was today. But so would Phil Jones.

I think VInny will sort it incidentally. But as a 4, I'm not sure.
Just throwing it out there but is down to switching from zonal to man marking? There's a distinct lack of understanding across the whole back four on who's marking who especially at set pieces, it's not all down to playing higher up and the DM's or should I say midfield seem to be unfairly copping the flack at times.

Think that's more down to Kolarov does what Kolarov wants and it's usually wrong.
He looks like he's getting back to his woeful worst. I believe he is the main reason
we get dragged all over the place. We have to cover him far too much.

I think Kolarov is good going forward but Clichy better at defending, also Kolarov's frequent 'over-enthusiastic' tackling when he's got to track back doesnt help his cause, overall the back 4 held a good line last season, but it really does need to be a settled 4 as often as possible, if they are fit, play them.

The left back position apart, which has always been weak, what has happened to the defence??? Kompany who was being talked about as one of the world's best centre half's has been all over the shop for two seasons and Zabba, considered one of the best right backs looks knackered and lost. The other position we are trying to bed someone into.Now....have they suddenly become shit players almost overnight or are we continuing to play a system that we can't cope with and leaves us wide open at the back? I know what i think and if a man paid a pretty good wage to sort this can't see it then the people above him need to have a serious word!

Well whichever system you use some 'expert' on Sky moans about it, so I've no idea!

But the way Pellegrini wants us to defend, & the way he likes to swap players, is about as hard as it gets for defenders imo, & we look completely undertrained, whoever plays. If he drills it all week I'm sure it will be much better, but it just looks like a fucking mess to me at the moment & I hope he accepts that & puts tye work in. Even if it needs double sessions.

Kolarov has no instinct for defending. For the first goal, he was running toward the 3 City players who were around 1 Stuttgart player, rather than actually going with the bloke who was his bloke to start with. I watched the replay about 20 times earlier, trying to think like Kolarov & see what he saw, & if I watched it another 1000 times, I know I still won't figure it out.
