Not really pre season does not mean anything, we get this crap every year, people getting themselves all worked up over practise matches it's as predictable as it is pathetic and embarrassing
I'm not somebody who does that. But we have a problem at the back & a week to sort it. Nowt to do with signings or anything else. Hard work is what it needs.

Personally not arsed about the preseason games but If I see similar problems/traits to previous seasons I think it worth discussing rather than passing it off as 'just a preseason game'.

Now I do not expect us to conced 4 in 36 minutes at West Brom but it would not surprise me if Kolorov gets found out of position and Kompany shows a lack of judgement/composure, as he did today, over the coming months. Watching him today it could easily be January??? last season when he could not put a foot right.

It should mean something, it should be used to test systems, formations, young players and as a final push for full match fitness.
If it means nothing, whats the point? Marketing? Promoting the brand?

(edit)
The results are not that important, its using it for the above reasons, find our weaknesses now and not on 1st Sept at 6:01pm

Kolarov has no instinct for defending. For the first goal, he was running toward the 3 City players who were around 1 Stuttgart player, rather than actually going with the bloke who was his bloke to start with. I watched the replay about 20 times earlier, trying to think like Kolarov & see what he saw, & if I watched it another 1000 times, I know I still won't figure it out.
Ever since he got here I thought Kolorov was a bobbins defender. We'd be better off chucking him on as an out and out winger for the last half hour when we need a goal. In fairness to MP he set his stall out and promised attacking football from day one, he never mentioned defending. My worry is that the shaky defense robs the attack/midfield of confidence going forward. That's what it looked like last season, and even though I hate Jose's turgid football, sometimes that's what it takes to get a result. We're in danger of being an expensive version of KK's 90's Newcastle with 7 goals in every game.

You do realise that this is a long standing issue not something that has cropped up cos of the friendly result? Loads of people have been questioning and wanting him gone since the middle of last season. This result a week before the season starts shows that as we all know he either refuses or doesn't know how to fix the problem with the way we set up and we are piss easy to attack. I can predict exactly what will happen in the next few weeks our attacking players will be too good for West Brom and we will comfortably win and we will have everyone on here papering over the cracks and then we will play Chelsea and probably concede some bullshit goal and the questions will be asked all over again. And repeat.

Sadly mate the latter. Absolutely no point in playing Vietnam, travelling all that way to hit a cricket score against. The time would have been best served back at Carrington and getting the squad integrated and the new players familiar with their surroundings.
