A couple of questions that I think need to be answered when judging how well a manager has done/is doing

1) is he getting the best out of the players available?
I'd say not

2) Has he achieved anything that no-one else could have achieved given the same time and resource
Again, I'd say probably not

Its difficult to argue point 1 right now but plenty have had time and money to spend in this league and fell well short of what Pellegrini has achieved.

If it was so easy no fucker would ever get the sack!

OK i get it, the new defence of the manager is that he's been dealt a poor deck. The squad is not good enough.

In FourTwoFour magazine Pellegrini was rated 35th best manager in the world this year. Now even allowing for journalistic error this in my view does mean that he is not amongst the elite. So whether our squad is great, good or poor, we can get a better manager than the current one. Not one of my mates who don't support City rate him at all. They do however rate Kun, Silva, Kompany, Hart, Zabba, Yaya, Fernandinho, Sterling and de Bruyne and reckon we are a shoe in for the league. Well they did til yesterday.

FourTwoFour and your mates.....fuck it.....Pellegrini out!

Forgive the obvious sarcasm but both have not got a fucking clue as to what kind of job Pellegrini is doing.

I don't think he knows what his best eleven is, doesn't know where he can get the most out of De Bruyne and Sterling. Doesn't have the balls to drop Yaya.

Christ if Klopp can get a tune out of Llana and Lucas, what could he be doing with the resources he'd have at City. Should have had him in the summer.

I admire your loyalty to Pellegrini who by any measure is a decent and likeable bloke. But answer honestly, if he left City tomorrow what sort of club would employ him next.

Who?
No one said it was easy, but it's about adapting. We lost to Villa and Cardiff when he came and he doesn't seem to get the league - just putting players on the pitch is not enough, we need to change things. He has done it from time to time but no where near enough

I'm not interested in win % unless the are compared to similar managers in similar clubs

I agree with the Yaya point in a midfield two as its the exact same thing that's sticking in my craw right now and for the life of me i don't understand why he continues with that?

Yesterday was completely unforgivable as a performance from not just himself but also the majority of the players as well and ive said as much.

Going forward i think this will be his last season regardless as i think we will land Pep but will that suddenly end all our issues?

Not a chance as we are not as broken as many try to make out and Pep is not some God who doesn't lose games.

That God just doesn't exist.

I have a feeling that the persistence with Yaya may be drawing to an end but it is still a big call to leave him out. The reason he persists with him is that he expects us to keep the ball and dominate possession and that game revolves around Yaya. Pellers is more concerned with keeping the ball in the first place than having to win it back.

I think it may be time for Silva to show that he can be the pivot of the team and take that role on from Yaya.

The Yaya in a two thing is such lazy criticism. The results with Yaya in a two with Fernandinho are actually very very good.

This season Fernando has played in a two vs Spurs away and Liverpool at home. Demichelis also started both of those games. Both games were 4-1 defeats.

The results this season with Yaya in a midfield 3 are 0-0, 3-1 and 0-0. Those score draws and the only ones we've had in 60 odd games.

The facts suggest that it is actually Fernando who struggles in a two. He doesn't cover enough ground, doesn't show for the ball and has a limited range of passing. This is ok in a three when he simply has to get in the way but in a two it's not enough as he lacks Yaya's passing and Fernandinhos mobility.

The way forward this season is Yaya and Fernandinho, with Delph or Fernando in for the difficult games, mostly away, to make it a three.
