Manuel Pellegrini post match interview:
“I am more than angry, it is difficult to understand why we played so poorly,” the City manager said. “In defence, in attack and in possession I have never seen my team play in the way they played tonight. It was not one name or another name who was to blame it was the whole team. I was not happy with the performance of all 11 players. It was a complete disaster.”.

Well ManueI, I don't know a single City fan you thought we wouldn't struggle with your initial team selection. YaYa doesn't track back or defend remotely well. MDM is now a bit on the slow side. Mangala needs to play along side a quality centre half. Fernando was guaranteed to be in a 1 v 3 situation and he doesn't pass the ball forwards so when he is the only one defending in front of the two centre halves, where is the ball going to be passed too?
Of more importance why did you simply watch the train crash for 40 minutes before doing something about it? Frankly I'm more angry about your ineptitude than the team performance.

While we're at it if I had picked that woeful selection as soon as I saw what they were doing and how disrupted we were I'd have gone 3 at the back pushed Kolorov up into midfield and then if there was no improvement I'd have taken Stirling or Navas off and pushed Ya Ya up (a little) and brought Fernandinho on. Instantly central midfield is filled with City players and if Liverpool press YaYa/Fernandinho will be able to pick them off at the back with a pass to Auguero or Navas/Sterling (whoever hasn't been taken off).

I see. However there is the point that the Budesliga doesn't have the same tv money as the pl so is far less competitive and seeing as Bayern are the ones with pots of money spent compared to the other teams they are bound to be doing a lot better. You also pointed out you can't see us scoring 5 anytime soon but we scored 5 & 6 a few weeks ago.

No I didn't say that, I said they put 5 past Arsenal and Dortmund and beat Shalke - beating those 3 teams so comprehensively is what I cannot see us doing

Most players no that either they or the manager will leave within two years, they don't all down tools and I don't think ours have. They were terrible yesterday but the manager gave them no chance to play well

He's a decent manager but he's ran his course with us and the sooner he goes and we either do or don't get Guardiola the better and we can all move on. We should not be losing 3 out of 12 games in the league. That form is completely unacceptable to me.
He managed to keep his job after United hammered us and we've had 2 big defeats since then, so 3 big defeats in the last 20 league games is not good enough

We dont play Dortmund or Shalke so to try and use a fixture we cant play as proof of an argument is ridiculous.

We do however stick 5 and 6 past sides we do play quite regularly. Bayern dont play them but it doesn't mean they are shite and unlikely to do the same.

3 at the back with Kolarov in midfield?

That'd be even worse than what we got.

On the possession point i think we are all used to seeing us completely dominate and see teams stand off so when it doesnt happen its a huge shock but one we have to adapt to and quick.

I argued for Yaya to be sold 2 years ago for the good of the team going forward and that isnt hindsight, it was a realisation that we had probably had his best years and form and it was time to move on and the club trying to land Pogba also points to that. That said he is here and as Exeter rightly points out, Pellegrini has shown he can change it successfully but the stubborn fucker wont do it often or quick enough right now and its really hurting us.

Going forward i agree with Merlin as pivot with KdB and Sterling out wide with the two Ferns holding behind.

I'd play delph before Fernando any day of the week, last season he was cr*p and this season he isn't much better. For a holding defensive midfielder the amount of 50/50 tackles he misses is way to high ( just watch him)

Well he's right. I know we don't agree with his set up, but the players have to take some of the blame too.
What did you expect him to say, We were brilliant.

An apology would have been a good start

He gave the team no chance yesterday. A jet lagged Otemendi, in fact an asleep Otemendi would have been better than either of those 2 we had at the back - they looked like they'd been at my hipflask!

If this is all part of some master plan to beat Juventus, I don't agreed with it. Last night was awful, and we were playing Liverpool not Barcelona. I'm struggling to think how he thought we could win that game with that team

I can see an argument for playing Delph, fitness and form allowing of course.

Whats clear is a change is needed going forward sooner rather than later.
