I have never watched a single EDS game but I have no doubt some of them look very good players at that level. There is a big step up though to premier league football though.

Big step up to regular Premier League football, yes, but how big a step up is 10 minutes off the bench? And at 2/3-0 up? And even against Championship opposition?

If the players aren't capable of THAT we should release them all as they will never be good enough.

It bugs me like mad that those who would like some decent youth integration are then accused of wanting nowt but youth and that they would start Humphreys over Demichelis and Roberts over Navas every week, as if we're that unreasonable - yet we've never said anything like that. They literally ignore all points and just revert to nonsense like that. I've said it a thousand times before. If teams like Newcastle, Villa or whatever can take points off us despite starting one of their academy kids, an academy kid that has played against our academy kids in youth football and been comprehensively outplayed, then why should we all of a sudden lose if we include one of our kids for thirty minutes?

I'd like to understand the reasoning behind that. Our youth palyers are proven better than the vast majority in the country given their performances in cups, and leagues etc at youth level, yet they're deemed more likely to cause us problems, despite other lesser clubs often using one or two of their own? So we really can't afford to have one promising player amongst ten top class seniors for half hour? Yet a lower club can start one probably lesser promising player amongst ten slightly less top class seniors...and therefore we will lose? It doesn't make sense logically.

Use people like Evans, Bryan, whatever, to relax the strain on Fernandinho, Yaya when we can. Sagna's played every game in Zaba's absence, and he's knackered, clearly. Give Maffeo a go for ONE game against lesser opposition from the bench just to relax the strain on him. Yet we don't, and our players will get injured and instead we get ridiculous quotes from Pellegrini saying we have only 13 players, completely and utterly retardedly dismissing our youth players as promising players. Proper kick in the teeth. He should be saying 'we have 13 fit senior players, but we have promising youth players i have a lot of faith in'...yet he pretends they don't exist. How is that good management? It isn't. It's awful.

Well said. The "antis" keep trying to make out it's shit of bust.

Only one way to find out though isn't there...

If things got really bad (which I honestly don't expect given the strength of our squad) as someone mentioned yesterday, Capello would be an excellent shout until the summer and possibly beyond if Pep falls through.

I think we will bounce back but the failings will still be there. Long term my desire would be for a young hungry manager to bring back a bit of enthusiasm to the place.

I think Klopp would have brought a freshness and galvanised fans and players. Simeone, Pochettino or the Seville manager (Umal??) would be contenders based on their background and as spanish speakers

Oh piss off you doom merchant.
And get off your fuckin high horse.
I suppose you're name is cuthbert and have a degree in English giving it the big I am about comprehension.
I'm as thick as pig shit pal but one thing I have got an A plus in is football and you clearly know jack.
Like I said take your rain cloud to another forum as you quite clearly aren't a city fan.

Haha! I do have a degree in English as it happens, mate.

I'm just as much a Blue as anyone on this forum, no more no less than any one. I'm just not a Manuel Pellegrini fan.

If you're so knowledgeable about football how can you justify his managerial skills in the last 18 months? We've underachieved this year.

Of course managers make mistakes. However I find it more illogical to believe that a manager who is short of fit players and complains that the few fit ones are tired, would then continue to pick those players if he felt that he had better options from the EDS. He must have seen them in training a great deal and seen them around the first team players, so why on earth would he not play them unless he genuinely believed they weren't ready?

I am sure Pellegrini's bosses would put some pressure on him to play youth more if they felt it was the right decision. They had a pretty good record of bringing youth through at Barcelona after all.

I don't watch the EDS at all so I have no personal idea of how good any of them are or may become. If the choice is to rely on the opinions of some anonymous posters on an internet forum or on the manager and his bosses, I know which one seems the most logical to me with no disrespect to our EDS followers

To be honest its not even a case of saying Maffeo is better than Sagna or Kelechi better than Bony. Most fans are realistic enough to accept we cannot expect to chuck a load of kids in at Stoke away or Pool at home.

What were saying is if for example Sagna or Bony is tired then surely a lad like Maffeo or Kelechi are good enough to play against Hull and not be detrimental to the team winning. In addition it may also give players the respite to put in better performances against the likes of Stoke.

Similarly when we have been cruising in games these lads should have been utilised more. Given an opportunity to impress and at least fans/manager alike would be able to judge these players better and for the young players it improves his development.

I'm 42, old skool and have supported us for over 35 years, not that it gives me a badge of honour or makes me better than anybody else on here but I refuse to throw the toys out of the pram over a game, a manager or a result.
As like a lot of posters on here I've seen some dross, some proper cranks playing for us who was bobbins and visited some shitholes just to see us play.
Yes we've gone backwards in the last 18 months but I can't find it in me to get annoyed. Maybe I've commented on pellers after a defeat and said thanks for the memories but if I'm brutally honest with you pal I really deep down couldn't care less if we have pellers, pep or Peppa pig as manager. City are in my heart and my blood and I'll watch us in Madrid or Macclesfield . What's gone off the field...fantastic.
What's happened in the last 7 years...amazing.
Pellers winning two trophies in his first year was a great achievement and we should have kicked on but we didn't. We may have a lull for a couple of years whilst we regroup and clear the decks but the vitriol and anger shown by some over our current manager needs to be wound in ever so slightly.
Let's get behind audrey for the now as the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I suppose so. I agree with almost all of that.

I've said it before (and I'll probably say it again) but perhaps I shouldn't post in anger. I tend to be prone to hyperbole.

Not my style to argue with fellow blues, so I'll hold my hands up and say my earlier post was a bit too 'hot from the blood' and apologies if I seemed a bit obstinate or nasty.

Still don't think I can warm to Pellegrini, but I'm not afraid to hold my hands up and admit when I'm wrong and I really can't argue with anything you said, there.

Onwards and upwards and let's hope for a win against Borussia!
