KnaresboroughBlue said:We lack movement when we have the ball and defensively we have no discernible shape or system. We have 2 or 3 players half heartedly pressing while the others are dotted around the pitch to no great purpose, leaving lots of space between the midfield and defence. If you're going to play a high defensive line, you need to press effectively, yet we don't (nor have we bought players that suit that system).
It's just a disorganised mess.
Happy with the 3 points though.
This would make a huge difference very quickly. For all Mancini's faults by the end of his reign, I won't forget that he took over a team that was similarly shambolic at the back as we are now and within a couple of weeks had them looking organised at the back by and large. I think people would be amazed how much simpler things would look if we didn't need to score 3 goals to win games.KnaresboroughBlue said:Ray78 said:The question is who the board got lined up? Whoever it is will hopefully be backed in the transfer window to address some of those issues. Being able to organise a defence would help for a start.

I agree. I'm a little dismayed at how specific the reports have been that we aren't interested. Let's hope we're obfuscating to keep the season from totally imploding.FantasyIreland said:Damocles said:Discussion: Potential Pellegrini Replacements

Thank you.
From the candidates available,i'm hoping its klopp - young, dynamic and slightly mad - our football has become bland,we need an injection of excitement,he's the man imo.

Mancini. Did a lot of good but won few friends. Not the most entertaining brand of football and a very divisive manager in the dressing room who could struggle with man-management. Useless in Europe.
Pellegrini. Great first season domestically but found out tactically this season. Not been able to motivate his players this season. Awful defence of league title and awful home defeats in the cups.
Ancelotti. Unrivalled record in the Champions League and on the verge of winning it again. Won the double with Chelsea with a record number of goals in a Premier League season. Great man-manager who can motivate players and unite a dressing room.
Klopp. Also a great man-manager who can really unite a dressing room and did great with Dortmund. Only question mark would be can he handle the big egos
We should do everything to get Ancelotti or Guardiola. If neither are available then either stick with Pellegrini for another year or get Klopp.

Usually the press would be all over this as was the case with Hughes, Mancini and Moyes at the swamp. Honestly can't believe we have not approached klopp and as much as I loved viera as a player to promote him with such little experience is too huge a gamble.
Yeah, can't wait for the cup final!Ducado said:Balti said:Dethred said:Average? So if Mark Hughes was in charge of the same squad we'd be in the same position, and he'd have a domestic double under his belt? Let's stop acting like we have sniffed too much glue, shall we?
Name a single signing in the summer that improved the squad. The problem is motivation, of which Pellegrini is equally guilty, as are the worthless signings in the summer. No first team players have had any challenge to their status as such.
Sold Garcia for Fernando, which was a step backwards (amazing considering we all slated Garcia under Mancini).
Sent out Negredo and didn't even replace him.
Sagna for Richards, possibly the dumbest change of all.
Mangala has been worse than Nastasic' most of the season, and we sold Nastasic' at a loss and overpaid on Mangala.
Name one player that has had their place in the starting XI challenged.
Mancini would be getting more out of this team than Pellegrini
but then so would Tony Pulis
How can we ever move on in this debate when there are people who refuse to move on, this season is panning out the same as Mancini's last season
