We aren't in a strong position for Guardiola at all unless he really wants to come.

Sorry to state the bleeding obvious but if he's not interested in coming then there isn't a position to take. He's either interested, in which case he will probably have to shit or get off the potty this summer, or he isn't, in which case all this Pep talk is utter bollocks because as I've said previously - there's absolutely no way that Pep will fuck one of his best friends around when it could cost his best friend his job. One way or the other, City already know what Pep's intentions are.

If Pep was leaving Bayern surely we would have rumours of who Bayern are looking at to replace him which we haven't

Unless of course Bayern are above rumours unlike most.

Tuchel (a very innovative and intelligent tactician) was long rumoured to succeed Pep, now he's gone to Dortmund. I could see Favre replacing Pep. Article about it here: http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... engladbach

It'd be hilarious if Bayern wanted Tuchel, and Dortmund/Klopp moved when they did to ensure that they got him. If Dortmund know Pep's leaving then that's a pretty slick move to take his best replacement to Dortmund before Bayern can even react.

Pff .... if he sees out his final season at Bayern and the right job isn't available then, just watch all the right jobs open up within a year after he has had a "rest".

There's nothing hypothetical about Guardiola's present contract situation at Bayern.

He has 12 months left. I would STRONGLY argue Bayern won't allow the highest-paid manager in the world to run down his contract without forcing him to either commit or not.

Which will ensure City will know once and for all where they stand and how they move forward.

In addition to the above - City will be making it quite clear that we want Pep now so either come and join us or stay with Bayern - but we will not offer the job again in 12 months time.

If Pep doesn't want to come to City now then he can sign an extension and hope someone else pays for him in a year but with the salary he is on that will be unlikely if he signs a 3-5 year extension.

We are in the stronger position really. Bayern are making it clear they want commitment from him, as you'd expect. We are known to be keen to want Pep, it's up to him now to decide what he does. I just hope, as Tolmie is saying we are making it clear we will not wait for him.

We've also got the added bonus of the likes of Ancelotti and Klopp being available this summer too. If you're Pep Guardiola you don't go to Dortmund. You also can't go to Real Madrid... so there's not much out there for him and it's unlikely any more options will open up next year unless the Rags part with the turtle.

You're missing the obvious point... Bayern won't want him going into his final year prior to extending. It's business with a sought after manager just as it is a player. They get him to sign an extension and they guarantee compensation from a club that wants him. Or... they get a years worth of compensation now which is around £15m based on his annual salary. That's the whole point. For anyone who wants Pep, this is the time to get him as it's only a year they will have to pay off to get him. Bayern will make him sign a contract or they'll push him out the door. Yes he can sit there on his current deal and yes Bayern would then have to sack him and pay him off, but that just will not happen.

If we had a manager sought after by nearly every club and with only one year left, do you think we wouldn't be trying our hardest to tie him down. They've been offering Pep a new deal for about a year and he's not signed. They are desperate not to allow him to enter the final year of his deal. If we are knocking on the door and Pep is unwilling to sign you can sure as hell bet Bayern will be pushing him towards as at the same time we are pulling.

I think Klopp will have made it known to Dortmund for a while this season that he was to leave this summer. He is loyal to them and he's had to watch Bayern pick Dortmund's pocket for years now leaving them in the lurch. He probably made his intention quite clear a while ago with a poor campaign and they've been able to move earlier than Bayern for Tuchel. Bayern meanwhile are "stuck" so to speak, with a manager who could go just about anywhere and would command a huge compensation fee IF he was on a long term deal. They're in trouble with just over a year to run and they must be even more concerned with Dortmund moving early. They've still enough money to monopolise things for this all to be trivial domestically, but in Europe as they will be judged, it's not ideal for them. To lose Pep to City and to then see their number one target go to their domestic rivals... good times for all who dislike Bayern.

I suppose we will see soon enough.

Did Guardiola leave Barcelona at the end of hIs contract or during it?

It's like playing poker

My guess is though Bayern have what they want and won't want to let go.

This leaves pep with a choice of staying for 1 year only and running the risk of being hounded by all corners as this is the Bayern way or signing an extension.

City are taking a gamble on waiting for pep but is this a worthy gamble.

COME ON PORTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed but also for reasons other than Pep becoming available such as they are the German Rags

Porto need to score and if they do Bayern will need 4 goals to win.

Sandro and Danilo out could be massive for Porto and Bayern are capable of hammering any team in Europe on their day.
