So we can't get pep fall back is viera? This txixi guy doesn't fill me with confidence at all. If you are thinking vista might be up to it we should have got rid of pellers and see how the team responded to viera til the end of the season.

Appointing big paddy is a massive risk, especially with a quality alternative like Klopp available.

Totally agree, If true Paddy should have got it a month ago and been given till end of season to prove he's got what it takes.

Paddy or Pellers? Not sure which one I would feel most confident about

I hope not,he is no way ready or experienced enough, that would worry me a lot

Everyone said that about Guardiola at Barca, Monk at Swansea as well.

I think Vieira will do a top job.

based on what may I ask?

I think he is innovative, tactically good and a top motivator who gains respect instantly.

My only question over him is what I saw at Rome away where he let his heart run wild, he got far to heated on the touchline and within ten - fifteen minutes of him doing so we were down to 9 men.

is Txiki SO desperate for pep that he will rather put viera in charge and risk a season that could go either backwards or not just to wait for someone THAT MIGHT happen to turn here in 2016 WHILE Klopp has put himself on the market???????? i mean wtf?????... tolmie said that he is on a huge pressure to deliver these summer if not he's gone....someone need to tell txiki that the word doesn't end at pep i have nothing against him but if go on and buy average players again and miss on klopp just for his desperation then he really deserve to show the door

I'm going to go ahead and say it -

If Guardiola isn't available, if we don't want Klopp (Pellegrini pretty much outsmarted him with Malaga anyway), if we don't want Ancelotti (I don't), then we really should stick with Pellegrini.

With the deadwood cleared out and fresh, hungry players in their place, I'd be happy for Pellegrini to be given another chance to replicate (or even surpass given he was using players primarily not bought for him) his first season in charge of us.

We need a tactical upgrade. His attack and don't defend policy does not cut it.

Did you watch the CL victories tonight? Those are the teams we should be competing with.

Our rivals will piss themselves if we appoint Vieira. This fantasy he'd be the new Guardiola is just that IMO. For every 1 Guardiola, there will be 49 who can't reproduce the impact he had. Vieira's U21 team has noticeable flaws and is there anything that sets Vieira above other U21 coaches in the same league (other than being a famous footballer)? At least have Vieira go and get some experience at West Ham, Everton, Sunderland or somewhere. If we did appoint Vieira, it'd feels like we're trying to repeat what Barcelona did to the letter but the circumstances are so much different. This idea of doing everything 'from within' is at least 5 years too early IMO. Right now we should be trying to make our stamp on the world with a top tactician to get us into the latter stages of the Champions League.
I totally agree, it would be a huge and unnecessary risk to appoint Vieira. We need our coach/manager to inspire confidence in our players. We need a proven top manager at this stage of our development.

Telegraph: Txiki Begiristain is set to recommend Patrick Vieira to City's owners if Pep Guardiola can't be lured to the Etihad.

Telegraph: Senior figures still favour a move for Ancelotti but Txiki prefers Vieira. Hopes to return from Munich w/ encouragement from Pep.

FORZA VIEIRA!!!!

Brave call if true as it will be Txiki's head on the block if it all goes pear shaped.

To take such a risk means one of two things either he's seen something in Vieira that gives him hope or he is not that bothered as he plans on leaving sometime soon.

For me Ancelotti every time. We know exactly what we are getting with him. A three time CL winner who won the double in his first season in the PL. With 3 new top signings we would be ready to take United and Chelsea on next season.

I still think we need a manager who can move us up a level in Europe so that we're at least getting into the QF every year, so then we can utilise Pep fully cause in terms of how far we're going in the CL we're at the level of say Basel or Monaco atm. Of course he will improve us domestically but it's been proved that that's not enough with the sacking of Mancini. Possibly someone like Rafa next year then Pep the next would be good as Rafa would take us up a stage to give the team the mentality that they can do it, another season of failing in Europe (by our owners standards) wouldn't be good for the team, and then Pep could push us on even more to coming very close or winning the thing.

Did u see barca tonight?
We ain't gonna be winning it for a while yet! The top teams are miles ahead, QF's may be attainable in the coming seasons, I think we overestimate how good a side we are, we have 2 world class players, silva and Sergio, possibly Vincent if his form returns next season. Most of the others are just good prem players.

Sometimes I think the homegrown rule hampers English clubs, for instance if we were to sign Sterling and Barkley it'd probably cost us about £80m and though they would both improve our squad, they wouldn't come close to playing in most of the top European teams... sorry for off topic ramble!

Txiki's got it all wrong if he's going to recommend Viera for the whole of next year.

I like Viera one on hand but he's not at the standard to manage at that level.

Letting Carlo one of the world's best current managers go for Viera without a 100% guarantee for Pep would be absurd! With our summer rebuild especially seeing the quality of player Ancelotti could help get.

If Txiki is really making these huge decisions we were always going to be donald ducked next season. Vieira? Our genius DOF just wants a yes man who will again have no real power over him.
