Vieria needs to go away from City, manage at a competitive level and come back.

He also needs to sort out the in-discipline side of the youth team. Whilst on that subject the first team need to get their act together too - far too many yellows, sometimes turning to reds because they can't keep their discipline. Professional footballers - no good if not on pitch.

Vieira needs to stay and get promoted.

I agree.

I will be more than happy to see Vieira get the job.

Everyone said that about Guardiola at Barca, Monk at Swansea as well.

I think Vieira will do a top job.

based on what may I ask?

I think he is innovative, tactically good and a top motivator who gains respect instantly.

My only question over him is what I saw at Rome away where he let his heart run wild, he got far to heated on the touchline and within ten - fifteen minutes of him doing so we were down to 9 men.

Unfortunately in my eyes he only has one thing going for him in regards to being our manager - his rapport with the players, like you mention. I just don't see how he is qualified in any other way to get the job full time.

That said it is very difficult to judge a manager's abilities as they aren't like players, where they can all be ranked on a scale in terms of ability. He might have something special, but it would be a huge risk appointing him (although people probably said that about Pep at Barca). At least if he is appointed and it all goes pear-shaped then Txiki will be fucked off for good!

I genuinely don't get all this buzz about vieira. From what I have seen from our youth teams this season Jason Wilcox is actually a better manager than him. Also Twitter page @MCFC_EDS_ACAD is always very vocal about how they don't think vieira is good enough to manage city, yes of course it's just a Twitter page but they watch a lot more of the academy than most of us so can make a more informed opinion on the manager. Vieira to me seems to be another case of 'it worked at Barcelona so it must work here' does txiki actually have any fresh ideas for our club or is he just going to try to repeat everything he did at Barcelona and expect the same results?

Yes, yes, and yes. It'd be a sentimental move out of this apparent wish to prove to the world City are an authentic, genuine, organic club, not a soulless, big spending monster that we've been portrayed as. But most football fans see things in black and white and even if we cure cancer, they're still going to call us oil cunts who are ruining football. I'm not an expert on the kids like @MCFC_EDS_ACAD is (and his opinion is probably more valid than most of ours on youth games and he doesn't seem to rate Vieira at all), but Vieira's teams, while playing nice football, strike me as naive and vulnerable when I watch them. Nice formation and nice style of play, but defensively weak and not too well balanced. It shows in the U21 table too with City having conceded more goals than all but 3 teams.

What City need is results and progress while developing this philosophy, not rushing this whole cute and cuddly image of being a club that promotes from within. That can come later when City is an established European powerhouse with a consistent (but hopefully not too inflexible) style of play. When we have a team so good that, like Barcelona do, you can also throw youth players in without too much risk because you have a perfectly functioning unit on the pitch (something we seem 1,000 miles away from again).

By all means promote Vieira in 5 years time when he's gone and proven something in a competitive environment, but how about - for the first time since the takeover - we just go and get one of the world's best coaches now? And think big like we used to when we targeted the world's best players and managed to sign players like Tevez, Yaya and Silva BEFORE we even had Champions League football (now we can't even seem to get players like this with it and several trophies later).

I'll be properly disappointed if we don't end up with Klopp or Ancelotti. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Klopp.

Pellegrini and Vieira (as of now) just doesn't cut it for me, and I'm not fond of the idea of waiting for Pep either. Just my two cents.

City's board listen to the media way too much man. This would be madness. Even it worked out it would still be a terrible decision in the moment based on the available information and they would have just gotten lucky. Vieira hasn't even done that well with the EDS IMO, obviously and improvement over Mancini's mate, but not groundbreaking. Agree with the other poster that if anything WIlcox seems to be the better manager and is on a better timeline for when the club would be in a position to promote from within, something not true now, the squad needs rebuilding and the team is in flux.

I think its just too early, if Vieira wants a job now he should be allowed to leave and promote wilcox to the u21's.

I would not mind if Pellegrini stayed at all on the proviso he has the fire for it in his gut.
Then i see Klopp available though and fear i will kick myself to death if we miss out on him and he was game to come here.

Txiki's got it all wrong if he's going to recommend Viera for the whole of next year.

I like Viera one on hand but he's not at the standard to manage at that level.

Letting Carlo one of the world's best current managers go for Viera without a 100% guarantee for Pep would be absurd! With our summer rebuild especially seeing the quality of player Ancelotti could help get.

To be honest I think that will be how they will see things in Abu Dhabi. I'm not even sure that they'd be willing to wait 12 months for
Pep if Ancelotti becomes available this Summer. Txiki needs to be very careful what he says to Khaldoon when they sit down
for his appraisal otherwise he'll be looking for a new job. Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon aren't going to risk "the project" because Txiki is
obsessed with one man.
