Discussion: Potential Pellegrini Replacements {merged}

I'm going to go ahead and say it -

If Guardiola isn't available, if we don't want Klopp (Pellegrini pretty much outsmarted him with Malaga anyway), if we don't want Ancelotti (I don't), then we really should stick with Pellegrini.

With the deadwood cleared out and fresh, hungry players in their place, I'd be happy for Pellegrini to be given another chance to replicate (or even surpass given he was using players primarily not bought for him) his first season in charge of us.

Our rivals will piss themselves if we appoint Vieira. This fantasy he'd be the new Guardiola is just that IMO. For every 1 Guardiola, there will be 49 who can't reproduce the impact he had. Vieira's U21 team has noticeable flaws and is there anything that sets Vieira above other U21 coaches in the same league (other than being a famous footballer)? At least have Vieira go and get some experience at West Ham, Everton, Sunderland or somewhere. If we did appoint Vieira, it'd feels like we're trying to repeat what Barcelona did to the letter but the circumstances are so much different. This idea of doing everything 'from within' is at least 5 years too early IMO. Right now we should be trying to make our stamp on the world with a top tactician to get us into the latter stages of the Champions League.

From what we are lead to believe we aren't looking for a top tactician , we already know the framework with how we want to play, which is non negotiable.

What we are Looking for is a manager who the players believe in , someone who they are willing to run through bricks Walls for.

Tactics are a by word for stopping the opposition playing , we aim to impose our style on the opposition

Neil Henderson, a BBC correspondent (and City fan) who posts tomorrow's newspaper headlines, just tweeted this:

Not sure if he's just referring to the Telegraph article about Vieira, or if it's something else.

You can't be playing West Hams every week though. Play serious opponents you need to be good off the ball.

We need a manager who holds the players attention and has them well organised. Sadly the evidence suggests that City's players are poorly coached and motivated and I hate saying that. If we finish the season with a good run that might make sway opinion. If I were Pellegrini I'd want out anyway. He doesn't look like he's enjoying the job

We still need a tactician to be able to play our style every game. Guardiola constantly changes his formation to outsmart the opposition manager and make them difficult to stop, although they will always play a similar way with the short passes just like we want to

I disagree , the players are not willing or able to follow the tactical framework which the manager has set. Press from the front , high defensive line and maintain control of the game through patient controlled possession.

This is Probably because of a lack of trust that has been eroded over the past few months, there are also obvious tensions within the dressing room that should have been managed better.

I think we are past the point of no return with many players in the squad , tough decisions need to be taken with players who don't fit the mould for what is required for the system we want to implement..

I would not be averse to giving Vieira the job , he would come with a clean slate and a mandate to freshen up the squad and get the necessary players in to apply the tactical framework we are working towards

If we could get Barkley , Pogba and sterling this summer , we'd be set for the next few years

Everyone said that about Guardiola at Barca, Monk at Swansea as well.

I think Vieira will do a top job.
