The plan was always to let Pellers run his contract out that funnily enough, it ends when Peps does at Bayern! We're set up for Pep but I don't see it happening this window. I think both managers will run their contracts down & we'll go for Pep at the end of the 2015-2016 season.
My worry though is that we're left with our pants down by then with Pellers ready to move on & Pep suddenly having a change of heart. If that happens then who we go for? We'd of lost out on Klopp & probably any other top manager available this coming Summer.
I do agree though that players will be the focus & replacing those that are either past their best, be it age or attitude, will be key. After that the manager will be looked at.
I've heard rumblings that Pellers is back off to Chile but nothing for certain, if true then we surely have a replacement ready to step in? Just can't see Pep leaving Bayern a year early myself. Simeone isn't a manager I think the powers that be would be happy to work with, I could see friction. Anceloti wants far to much money in the form of wages & I could see Klopp joining the dippers or Arsenal if they grow a pair & sack Arsen.
So how about Rafa as a temporary fix? With maybe Vieira as his no2 & bring Uwe in to run the EDS or U18's? Should Rafa do a job he stays, if not he walks & as it was a 1 year deal then no love lost. Just throwing out suggestions, not saying anything is set in stone.

As has been said mate playing for a manager in his last season and players knowing this leaves a lot of uncertainty around both clubs, player recruitment to a certain degree would be different than liaising with the manager who will actually get the long term benefit out the signings.

Now or never for Pep in my opinion.

I've no doubt we'll go all out for Pep this window, my doubt is he'd leave Bayern early unless they win the CL again & he wants to leave on that high note? But by then the other realistic option that is Klopp could be tied up with another club! It's certainly a catch 22 type situation.

Thing is mate him and Txiki are very good friends going back decades, why would he have any loyaltys to Bayern? The landscape has now changed for us as we need a new manager, its all well and good him wanting to see his Bayern contract out but if he is really serious about managing this club then he has to come for the new season.

On the other hand if there friendship is that strong and he has given Txiki assurances about coming the season after then it worries me-we could well be playing manager Russian roulette and putting all our eggs in one basket so to speak.

We need a manager for the new season, its about now for this club , our plans have been stunted through FFP and i just done see how we can let Pep call the tune.

The club will not be putting all their eggs in one basket. If Txiki is still close friends with Pep then he will know what the chances are of getting him. He will have sounded it out I'm sure and if Pep's happy to stay with Bayern another season I think we will call it quits and move for someone else. Our transfer strategy has aimed to pick technical players that can keep the ball in Pep's style. That was one of the attributes Mangala was picked for - being comfortable on the ball. It's what Txiki demands of all players.

We'll know this summer but we won't wait another year for Pep. That opens too many risks - there could be other clubs looking for a manager then. Barca, the Rags, Arsenal even Chelsea. The climate if perfect to get him in this summer and if not, move for Klopp or someone else.

That will do for me mate, lets just hope Txiki sees it that way, tbh i can see people further up the ladder insisting on it.

I think its not morally ideal to sack Pellers after a very successful first season because things went wrong the following season. However, tbh, the prospect of having Jurgen Klopp on board seems mouthwatering, an opportunity too good to ignore, perhaps. I also hope he can convince someone like Marco Reus to come on board. Finally, i personally am not a fan of Pellers' favoured tactics of being overly adventorous (i'm not being critical of him but i'm just saying, I think we can get more from our team if we balanced things a little more). Even the heavyweights recognize the benefits of having a three man midfield. I did a little research into the line ups of te last 8 teams in this years UCL and discovered that all but one team (Atletico Madrid - their workrate and ability to help out with defensive chores is well documented) used a three man midfield - Barca, Real, Bayern, Porto, Juve, Monaco, PSG all used three men in midfield at least in the first set of QF fixtures. And you know what: Pellegrini will NEVER CHANGE
Its because of the reasons above that I'm open to Klopps arrival

That is all too easy. We have now decided the players are mercenaries have we? After 6 years of saying that they aren't?

There have been mitigating factors in both seasons and a problem is rarely one side's fault.

After Mancini won the title, we were told that his style was too-abrasive and had upset and demotivated the main players at City.

Now after Pellegrini has won the title, it seems that his style is too-gentle and has demotivated the main players at City.

The players seem to want it both ways - perhaps they need to look in the mirror too ?

Spot on BT. There is only one common denominator

Five or six years is a long time for a player to remain at the same club and it's not realistic to expect the same levels of motivation and hunger from a 23/24 year old with no medals as from 28/29 year old who's won everything near enough. Doesn't necessarily make them mercenaries just human.

This I do agree with, in fact were a couple of years late in at least 3 cases.

We have a nucleus of a very good side still, but it needs an injection of players who want the big trophies to go with some who know how to win them, and to get rid of those that showed equally 2 seasons ago that they weren't motivated enough.

Its off topic I know, but its just as relevant even if we don't change manager.

I still feel the players are a bigger problem than the manager.

If we replaced the likes of Nasri, Yaya and Jovetic with Sterling, De Bruyne and Pogba - it would be a big improvement to our squad, no matter who was the manager.

If Pellegrini agreed to adapt to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and we signed well in the summer, I wouldn't be too disappointed about keeping Pellegrini.

It doesn't matter if we had Guardiola or Klopp, neither could win the Premiership or Champion's League this season with this current group of players IMO. Our squad is so unbalanced right now it's ridiculous.

This all bleeding day.
