I understand why he gets criticized after losses and not wins, but fail to see why it is stupid to hold him accountable when players he signed for high fees utterly fail to improve us as a team. For clarity, it is too early to judge signings from the past window, but it seems as though you think he is immune to any criticism whatsoever. Please enlighten the uneducated masses what his job is, because it seems player recruitment should be at the forefront. And if the manager is incapable of integrating such inspired signings, why does he still have a job?

As to your final point, which was impressively stated, the poster who I initially quoted cited 2 league titles as evidence for Txiki's effectiveness. In response, I said that Fern was the only player signed by Txiki who was influential in either of the aforementioned titles, so affording him credit was a bit daft. I admit I may have shortchanged Navas a bit, but your responses have been a bit nonsensical. Tending this site has undoubtedly been quite difficult over the last 12 hours, but repeatedly insisting that the masses are too daft to understand the DOF's job seems like an odd place to take a stand.

If Txiki can't get the appointments right he will go the same way as others that fail to live up to expectations go.

He might get longer than the manager but at least in part and significantly I must say the success of the manager and the first team is paramount to his tenure.

He deserves to be scrutinised if the side is under performing as it has been for much of this season.

He has landed us Pep and God knows what players likely to now come and some want him sacked?

Some fans on here are completely blind to what is happening at the club and I feel sorry for them.

That's strange, did I miss an announcement of some note? All I heard was that Guardiola was leaving his present club in the summer. No announcement that we had signed him, so was this written down somewhere in invisible ink???? Mr Pellegrini is our Manager as far as I am aware but please enlighten me if we have got it in black and white somewhere that this other person has been signed.

300 odd million spent in three years. Defense in absolute shambles, and aging. Not a single CM on the roster you could see starting for us in two years. Questionable striker depth. It's actually rather impressive. Cue the sycophants.

I agree with most of what you said, but can you name one single CM who can improve our starting eleven ?

And you're back to exalting the players he has signed, without mention of the money spent or the ensuing results. It seems we are all predictable.

I do not doubt his unrivaled connections within the game or ability to land Pep, but fail to see how either is relevant to his distinctly average recruitment record here.

Correct
I'm going to give him credit for getting us two really good signings this summer. However Mangala, Bony and Fernando for what £80 million. Blimey!

The way you talk about Guardiola so dismissively is pretty embarrasing, especially when you seem to fawn over somebody who's bordering on the incompetent.

I can only bring myself to read snippets - it is really painful and embarrassing.

On balance I think that it is Txiki who has every right to feel let down - and I mean by the self-entitled fans so many seem to have turned into as much as by the players

Oh we're back to blaming this guy every time we get beat after wanking themselves silly after he landed 2 of our top 3 targets in the summer and brought in the best defender in La Liga, the just landed us the best coach in the world.

Love Bluemoon.

Has anyone blamed Chappy yet?

We were on top last night till that wonder strike from Walcott, heads went then, poor play by Fernandinho & Mangala & we're suddenly 2 down. How is that Txixi's fault.

KDB scores or squares to Silva different story. We are having a shocking run of luck with form & injuries. Due a upturn.

We were outplayed by a team with worse injuries than us. Let go of those straws.

Outplayed apart from the first 30 minutes and last 15 and beaten because of our own errors.
Not to say we were good because overall it was a disappointing night, but outplayed suggests they had more of the ball and chances when they had neither. They just punished our nowhere near good enough back line and made the most of our complete lack of press and urgency.
