The odd request aside like Brian Kidd, managers have to be able to choose their own staff. And to be honest "defensive coaches" don't really exist in football outside of a few notable examples because this way of thinking about the game isn't really how the pros do it. They don't separate attack and defence in the way that fans do in such a clear cut manner, it is more of a whole system which has to work in tandem. Dare I say, top level coaches look at football more holisticly than fans generally do.

Henry on Mnf gave a little insight into how pep sets his team up in training so they hold there position when discussing lvg and his rigid system and all I was thinking was it would make us so much stronger defensively.

Outplayed apart from the first 30 minutes and last 15 and beaten because of our own errors.
Not to say we were good because overall it was a disappointing night, but outplayed suggests they had more of the ball and chances when they had neither. They just punished our nowhere near good enough back line and made the most of our complete lack of press and urgency.

They could have scored a couple more just as we should have scored a couple more. You make your own luck in football and for too long in that game we didn't play anywhere near enough for that to be the case. Arsenal, on balance probably deserved the points but that's with us pretty much gifting them two goals.

He has landed us Pep and God knows what players likely to now come and some want him sacked?

Some fans on here are completely blind to what is happening at the club and I feel sorry for them.

This all day long. What some fans have to get used to is that we're planning much longer term than we ever have before. What is happening at the minute is not an unraveling of everything, as it seems to be across town and in West London. Moving on to be a regular challenger in ALL competitions is an evolving process. If people can't see the direction of travel I'm not really sure what they're looking at. If it was left to some posters, we'd have sacked the 'Barca boys', the manager and three quarters of the first team! We did all that in the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 00's. Football clubs, whoever they are and whoever they're run by, have many things turn out unexpectedly, especially transfers. Some work out much better than you thought they would, others not so much. Hindsight is a gift most of us are not privy to. We are just at the start of something. The only thing that can derail us is impatience. Personally, I've waited 40 years for the stars to align and another couple are neither here or there.

I am just being respectful to the man who is our Manager and asking why you are stating that Guardiola has "He has landed us Pep" when Pep Guardiola is still working for Bayern Munich and the reports are that Chelsea are offering him a fortune and the rumour is that his wife will be the one to make a decision between London and Manchester. So no, I am not talking dismissively about him, I am just asking the question and stating facts. He does NOT work for Manchester City. If you are embarrassed then I am sorry for you but nothing in my post was embarrassing and as for me fawning over Mr Pellegrini no, I am being respectful because that is my nature. I don't fawn, I speak as I find. So I feel sorry for your embarrassment but you must be really easily embarrassed if my factual posting puts you in that frame of mind.

maybe the scouts who recommended those players to Txiki thought that and then Txiki trusted those scouts? Who knows, but it looks like our scouting isn't the best.

I think whatever scout recommended Mangala & Fernando must work for one of our rivals, as they are definitely the worst signings as a pair I have ever seen.

To think someone like Alderweireld cost £20 million less than Mangala is absolutely insane. Even that Kante at Leicester looks twice the player of Fernando, and cost them just £6 million.
