who's to say the staff don't sell the tickets on?

completely agree with the club on this.

So do I.

If they don't like it then get to the job centre as we all know there are thousands of jobs going every week. Time these members of staff got in the real world with the rest of us.

Furthermore I don't even like it when players get free tickets as we know back in the day the majority of these ended up on the black market. Now I'm not saying thats what happens now as I don't know, but it certainly used to.

From what I know the players that are picked for the team including subs all receive 4 tickets each for family or friends. If your not in the day's squad you don't get tickets. That's the way it was being run a few years ago from what I'm led to believe.
IMO that's a bit outrageous also - considering the salaries these players are on they could pay for a box out of pocket change - or easily afford a few hundred quid for the dining package even if on a fringe players wage.

Can see their point to be honest. Surely they consider the value of those seasoncards when negotiating salaries so if they've accepted a lower salary than they would had they not got the cards they are entitled to have a woman about it.

I work at Sainsbury's and as well as minimum wage i get 10% off whatever I buy in store.
Now this is a fair bonus. It's not ridiculously brilliant but it adds an incentive to work there and I'm happy.

These people got two free season tickets, you think about how much you pay for 1 season ticket and just for giving the fans a burger or begrudgingly giving them a hot chocolate they got themselves 2 free season tickets.Personally I think that is completely above and beyond the call of duty from City and for something like this to be expected is quite frankly an unwarranted level of deservedness from this single member of staff.
It's not even like they're completely removing the incentive to work there, or even the employee's benefits. 50% off seasons tickets is surely more than fair.

As far as the 'Yes but it's been in place so long now it's sort of the package,' You're talking about a benefit, a little extra stapled on to say thank you in sheer generosity from the place you work. To actually expect something of this level from any employer is absurd.

Also in all honesty I bet a lot of people didn't know about this benefit and there will be a surge of people applying to work there, I know I'll give it a go

Whilst I agree with your sentiments the people who give out the hot choc/drinks/food etc work for a franchise don't they so they don't work directly for Manchester City and would not get the 'perk'.

My apologies, I stand corrected,

Sorry, didn't want us being accused of being like the media and making things up!! :-)

City employed 467 members of staff in 2011/12. That's 934 free season tickets at an average price of £500. That's £467,000. Might not seem a lot in the 'grand scheme', but it's a significant saving in terms of non playing staff costs.

Besides, if employees want season tickets they should use their salaries to purchase them line everyone else.

Fact - I have purchased tickets from City staff members over the years.
People who had no interest in Football and regularly sold them on.

I'm not saying everyone sold them on but many have done.

if they enjoy Football and support City - They will buy the tickets just like You and Me.

What pisses me off the most is that City are apparently willing to sell them SC's at half price... a %50 discount and this Rag still whinges.

I'd work at City right now (without the ticket benefits).

Should be a question on the application form:

Are you a Rag?

why do we sell out and have loads of empty spaces, especially in the west stand? These tickets have to be a big part of the reason

A good few people use their Seasoncards for access to the stadium, then move down to other areas of the ground so they can Stand with mates.

Other reasons are people having cards, and just using them to sell on on every home match.
if the ticket doesn't sell, nobody will sit in the seat.

One lad bought two cards (next to each other) but the seat is usually empty as he only sells the card for big games, and makes a big profit on it (selling the seat for example the Rag game at £400+
