Ditching Sky

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but intending to ditch SKY and do not want to go to BT so am thinking of Virgin.

Just been looking at their 'bundles' online and can see that they offer the BT sports channels - but it is unclear if they offer the SKY channels - does anyone know.

Important for me because I can make the decision I want in our household - but will get grief if Mrs 1632 cannot continue to watch the programmes she has been used to seeing for the last 20 years on SKY

They offer all of the sky sports as well BT, only Sky channels they do not have is Atlantic

I ditched sky and got an Openbox can't fault it but the only problem is now I have a 4K set so can't get nowt in 4K

Got a quote from Virgin for Broadband and TV - £85 per month - currently I pay SKY £141. Called SKY and they initially only seemed to want to point out that I will not get SKY Atlantic of box sets on Virgin - can get them via Kodi I would think. Eventually they came back offering me the same package for £102.

Would seem good, but reading some of the examples on here I feel that I need to hold out for more - so I ended the call and said that I would think about it.

We pay about £105 pm for SKY (bog standard internet, free weekend calls, box sets, sports, movies and multiroom).

Last week I told them it was too much and it was annoying that new customers always get better deald, no rewards for customer loyalty etc...

They came back with an offer of £85pm. I rejected it and claimed that I have had a better offer from Virgin, costing around £70pm and with BT Sports and better wifi. They asked when I would like to cancel so I said one month after the next bill (5 Jan). They agreed and emailed confirmation of the cancellation.

I had not called Virgin so I had no idea what they would offer me. After calling SKY, I rang Virgin. It seems that our area cannot be served by Virgin. Balls. Missus is not happy.

Do you think SKY will come back with a better offer?

No

I already have the full Sky package and BT Sport but have been using an android box as a second box so I can watch sport when my wife is watching soaps and reality TV. I've got a bit fed up with the quality of streams and the messing about so we've just got Sky Q. The monthly cost is only £12 but with a one off charge of £100 (2TB main box and one mini box). So far I've only got the new hub but I'm impressed with that as wireless speeds are the same as wired speeds throughout the house.

As we can afford it I would rather have the convenience of watching sport in HD initially and 4K shortly when we buy a new telly whenever I switch on rather than messing about. The android box will only be for non-televised away games as I'm at all home games anyway.

I simply swap every year/18 months - so ditched Virgin, got sky basic package, get free TV which i will flog for £150, got £150 cashback via topcashback.co.uk, and think i get free broadband too as new customer. Got kodi box and pay £50 a year for sportsmania, the most reliable football streaming service in my opinion...

Just use a smaller company, they will not even sign up to the snoopers charter. Sky will know full well you were blagging as they know exactly where Virgin is available.
