Ditching Sky

We pay about £105 pm for SKY (bog standard internet, free weekend calls, box sets, sports, movies and multiroom).

Last week I told them it was too much and it was annoying that new customers always get better deald, no rewards for customer loyalty etc...

They came back with an offer of £85pm. I rejected it and claimed that I have had a better offer from Virgin, costing around £70pm and with BT Sports and better wifi. They asked when I would like to cancel so I said one month after the next bill (5 Jan). They agreed and emailed confirmation of the cancellation.

I had not called Virgin so I had no idea what they would offer me. After calling SKY, I rang Virgin. It seems that our area cannot be served by Virgin. Balls. Missus is not happy.

Do you think SKY will come back with a better offer?

No because they probably know you cant get virgin in your area

i did the same, Cancelled everything and changed my Broadband to BT. Once the sky had been fully switched off i called them and they gave me a 50% off rejoin offer. So now multi room, HD, sports, films etc for £41. i was paying £135 before and another paymnet to BT for sports. Now i get BT sports free with the broadband

Feck. If I am not on here for a while, it was the missus....

A poster is kindly looking at some options for me. Otherwise, I'll have to go 'snide' or BT. Peeved that I am paying c£100 yet many are paying £50 for the same thing.

Would it be possible to get them to switch off SKY (it is in my name) and get the missus to sign.up shortly after?

I know a few people who do exactly that. Cancel it and then set it up under their wifes name.

They piss me right off though. I cancelled mine in the summer and they did bugger all to keep me. Now ive left sky, (dont have a TV deal with anyone now) they dont bloody leave me alone offering all sorts of deals on a weekly basis. They should look after their existing customers a bit better for me. Once you are with Sky they do very little for you in terms of future deals. A lot of people do seem to be leaving sky though that ive spoken to so maybe if thata continues they will change their ways, doubt it though.

SKY need to do something pretty sharpish as the business model they have is not sustainable. They have rested on their laurels for far too long.

My Sky was switched off 10 days ago after 18 years had many offers from them to stay best was reducing my tv package from £92 month to £52 per month which i kindly declined. Just had a phone call in the last hour from sky asking how i am now viewing tv and told them i just watch freeview now through my box ;-). Then came the offer id been expecting we can switch all your sky tv package back on for 12months no contract for £16 month and will also give you £50 cashback also if i want to keep multiroom i can have that at half price £6 month. Told them to ring back Thursday and i will make a decision. Would you go back or not folks ???

Of course you go back mate. You are where i am now and after every offer runs out, i cancel, go a week or so without before they ring again and i get it all back for relative peanuts.

There is no point in being a loyal customer these days so cancel like this and wait for them to come back begging as they will.
