Reading this thread speaks volumes about the tribal nature of being a football supporter. In over ten years of living and working around Birmingham, and always making my allegiances clear, and being (as anyone who knows me will attest) someone who is a strident and self-confident individual who socialises a lot, who isn’t afraid of entering into verbal battle, I’ve had next to no grief from Villa fans I’ve encountered about City, our money, what a small club we are or the fact we’ve got no history. On the rare occasions I have, I’ve tackled it with gusto, and generally made them look like cunts, but those situations have been few and far between.
All fan bases have dickheads, our own included, but I’ve had far more grief from Liverpool and united fans in Birmingham in the last decade than I have from those who support Villa, and Blues fans absolutely love what’s happened to us. Never had an ounce of grief from a single Birmingham City fan.
I know plenty of Villa fans who would prefer us to win the league over Liverpool, and plenty who wished (and wish) Jack every success.
