Do we need a hard man in the team?

What we need is a proper goalscorer to get us 20goals a seson, champs lg is out of reach without one or two

But back then the other teams weren't trying to cripple us because we weren't as dominant as we are now. What is happening now is 100% a new tactic managers have thought up to stop us. They tried pressing us, they tried long balls, they tried parking the bus and now they are onto plan D which is to kick our best players off the pitch. If we tried fighting fire with fire you could stick your mortgage on that player being shown a red card instantly.

Defintely the managers to blame. Players are like robots now. They do as they are told.

I can't see the players and managers watching match of the day a few weeks back listening to Murphy and thinking "god why haven't we thought of that"

They know if we break, we often score. It's the only way to stop us and it seems injuring players is not a concern.

Obviously we aren't allowed to say anything about their players self inflicted injuries.

Do we need......

Proper referee’s who are competent in their jobs = Yes

This is the problem. Continental refs are so much better and maybe that's the answer. Share them around. Make ours go abroad and send theirs here. Much more likely to be impartial. Wonder why they don't do that already????

Naybe but an actual great referee is hard to find. Look at the idiot today in our game

For me a referee now, in todays game should be an athlete in prime condition. Not some middle aged arsebag looking to create a headline. It wont be long till an on pitch ref is gone because once the video ref takes over then this is the beginning if the end for them

I agree with this, will mean impartial instead of being potentially biased.

I understand why people may think this , but ...
... let me ask you this.

Which current player would make way for this ‘hard man’ , Fernandinho? De Bruyne? Silva?
I don’t think so.
I would pay charlie adam 50 k a week just to come on on 85 mins and nobble any offenders.

A 'hard man' with the attached reputation would just be a target for officials and opposition players that know how to push their buttons. One thing the last four months of watching our wonderful team have taught me is that brain beats brawn. Being 'hard' wouldn't have stopped either Jesus or Kdb getting injured today. The refs need to sort their profession out and get video technology to help with decisions. 99% of the bad tackles we see now would not happen if the perpetrators thought they would be judged by a fifth official watching a slow motion replay.

We've got a hard man. He's got a skin head and a big willy.

Blame the refs and managers all you like but by the time KDB has had his leg snapped it is too late. What's needed is muppet footballers to have some respect for their fellow professionals. The last 4 non-reds were all so late and dangerous its impossible to defend the player actions. They were not honest attempts to win the ball. I don't really know what the PFA do but they need to start taking a more proactive role in reminding their members they have a duty of care. They are professional footballers and all paid enough to expect a certain level of behaviour on the pitch regardless of emotions and what else is happening in the game.

Any action after a career ending incident is too little too late.

They'e laugh at us
They'e ignored us
They'e jeered us
They despised us
They kick us

Fuck em

Cuts

Yes I am pissed

Great post..a long ban for these thugs please.

Do you mean actual "hard men" (we have plenty of those) or do you mean average footballers who throw in the odd cowardly tackle now and again? Referees need to be policing this properly and VAR needs to come in asap. He might be remembered fondly here, but players like Nigel De Jong aren't the answer, they're part of the problem.

There's no mechanism currently to properly punish tackles like Harry Kane and Dele Alli's if they're not dealt with at the time and something needs to change. One or two pundits also have a case to answer as they're contributing to this culture of "stopping" players. I don't want to see anyone in a blue shirt endangering other players the way Nigel De Jong has throughout his career and nor do I want to see us take a brilliant footballer out of our team to make for such a player.

No... we play the beautiful game and it’s paying dividends

Let less talented teams play pub football

Christ we have about 65-80% possession and still end up with daft yellows and reds, if we had an “enforcer “ he would be suspended most of the season with the arsehats we have reffing.
