I always used the manned tills upto Covid. I then got in the habit of scanning as I went round and put the shopping straight into my reusable bags as I went around the store. At that time this meant absolutely no contact with anyone and not even the need to use a trolley. Most of our shopping is done day to day as Waitrose is only 200m away. I still "scan and bag" as I call it even now. I reckon I get selected for a re-scan about once a month. If the wife goes shopping in Tesco, she uses the hand held scanner going round the store, fills up the trolley and pays by card on exiting.
Never checked by staff.
How are the spot checks carried out.
Is it profiling or completely random.
The thought of stealing anything doesn't even cross my mind on the basis that I consider myself to be honest, but would I want to get a record for what is inevitably going to be a trifling amount?
