Do you pinch from self service counters?

If the wife goes shopping in Tesco, she uses the hand held scanner going round the store, fills up the trolley and pays by card on exiting.
Never checked by staff.
How are the spot checks carried out.
Is it profiling or completely random.
I always used the manned tills upto Covid. I then got in the habit of scanning as I went round and put the shopping straight into my reusable bags as I went around the store. At that time this meant absolutely no contact with anyone and not even the need to use a trolley. Most of our shopping is done day to day as Waitrose is only 200m away. I still "scan and bag" as I call it even now. I reckon I get selected for a re-scan about once a month.

The thought of stealing anything doesn't even cross my mind on the basis that I consider myself to be honest, but would I want to get a record for what is inevitably going to be a trifling amount?

We have had a few checks always seems to be when we have deleted something from the basket

I know of a local authority where metal, glass and paper/card all goes in the same bin. Do they really separate them?
There are a lot of refuse bins in my local car park. Whilst using the bins, a refuse truck driver actually told me there was no point in me separating stuff. "Every single bin is contaminated with non-recyclable stuff, it all get tipped together". I still do though.

40p for a carrier bag is a joke especially when it’s apparently and breaks before you get it out the self serve checkouts!

Almost everyone re-used the plastic bags to line a pedal bin. Since the ban on free bags, the sales of pedal bin bags have rocketed. They never tell you these stats' when they talk of the "success" of plastic shopping bags.

I stole the self-service till. Does that count?

I didn't really. Couldn't fit it in my bag.

Well don’t steal trifle then
