It's obvious they are desperate not to do the guard of honour or let City win the title on derby day.

Can't say I'm not a little bit gutted about their comeback and last minute winner tonight.

The dream of winning the league before the derby or on the night is fading.

With Brighton still in the FA Cup, that has cost us another possible 3 points before the derby.

Have you looked at the table? If I'm right, we both have two PL games before the derby. Assuming we both win both our games, we go into the derby 16 (SIXTEEN) points clear. A win would leave that gap at 19 points with only 6 games remaining.

I can't see them beating Liverpool to be honest. If Liverpool win all their games before the derby, they would still be 18 behind with 6 games left I think. So to win it on derby day I think we would need the rags to get some kind of result against Liverpool and for us to win our games against Stoke and Everton.

Fair point. I wasn't looking at Liverpool, tbh. I can see that game on saturday ending in a draw. As long as we win the thing, I'm not going to get hung up on when it happens.

It will finish 0-0. City will beat Stoke and it will be in our hands to win the next two, Everton are dreadful at the moment so I think we'll easily beat them

They could win the title at home to United on Saturday. April 7. Their next three games are against Stoke, Everton and then United. Three wins would see City with a lead of 19 points over United with only 18 left to play for, if United win their next two games (vs. Liverpool, Swansea) to keep the pressure on.

The same applies if Man United draw with Liverpool and beat Swansea -- City can win it on April 7 if they beat United and win their other games.

If Liverpool beat United at Old Trafford, and win all their other games (vs. Watford, Palace, Everton, Bournemouth), City would have to wait until they go to Tottenham on April 14 to guarantee it with those four wins.

When is the earliest they can win the title?

With United and Liverpool playing each other next Saturday, at least one of City's closest rivals will drop points -- and both if it's a draw.

But it's very unlikely City can win the title at the end of this month. They would need Liverpool to beat Manchester United and then pick up no more than two points from games against Watford and Palace. Tottenham would also need to drop points at Bournemouth next weekend. City would then be champions if they win at Stoke and at home to Everton.

It is more realistic that City win the title against United on April 7.

Anything else?
City can also win the title without playing on Sunday, April 1. It would need the above results to happen for Liverpool, with the difference coming around Spurs' performance. If Spurs win at Bournemouth, and City beat Stoke and Everton, the title would be sealed if Spurs failed to beat Chelsea on that Sunday. And that's exactly how Leicester won the title two years ago.

Also, if Liverpool and City keep winning all their games up to April 7, City would then be champions without playing if Liverpool failed to beat Everton (April 8) or Bournemouth (April 14, 3 p.m.) before City play again (Spurs, April 14, 7.45 p.m.).

Yes, this would happen when City came out onto the pitch for the game on April 7 if they have sealed the title before this date
