Do YOU think Mancini will be our manager next season?

With the form we're in with the number of goals we're scoring and our league posistion this has to be one of the daftest threads of all time on BM.

Maybe you should ask yourself why these threads are appearing every week, on every forum. Why it is the topic of discussion between all City fans? Why do the media speculate constantly about his future?

Do you think the club are aware of threads like this? Because I can tell you they will be.

Is there anything the club could do/have done to stop this incessant speculation?

Because I can tell you that there would be a very simple way to kill the speculation stone dead.

And it hasn't happened. Which speaks volumes to me.

And what would that be? He has said on many occasions that he signed a 31/2 year contract. Why do City have to confirm anything? Just to assuage your curiosity. This is a non story imho. Why do we constantly try to undermine the manager by discussing his future. The team is playing some of the best football that I have seen certainly in the 1st division since the early 70's.

Why not enjoy the ride and leave all the speculation til the summer and lets see what happens then

Remember Stuart Pearce? We played some great games in the season when he took over from Keegan but we then had to endure two seasons of dross. I know that there were key people in and around the club that argued against making his appointment permanent because they knew that he wasn't good enough. I don't want us to make that mistake again.

If we've played like we've played in the last three games because of Mancini then he may well be. If we've played like that in spite of Mancini then he won't be.

No we switched to zonal with Mancini and with some success. I am a big follower of Doug's training reports and in the early days it was mainly defensive work, keeping our shape, positions for the zonal marking (sky showed it quite well during the match), shadow play etc. Lately there has been more focus on the offensive side with work done with Tevez and Ade and seemingly to make de Jong more of an effective attacking force (yeah I know!)

What has been interesting is (for once) seeing the fruits of this coming through on match day.

I don't care if the players like Mancini or if they hate his training regime but I do care if it is not been shown on match day. My biggest gripe about Hughes was did we actually do any f**king training because headless chickens seemed to be us on match day. Under Mancini win, lose or draw even I can see lots of elements of what Mancini wants coming through on matchday. The difference is like night and day and I do credit the players that irrespective of what they feel about Mancini they are carrying out or attempting to carry out his gameplan.

I make no pretence that I know what will happen manager wise in the summer and I say that as one of Jose's biggest fans but this attempt to twist good results into 'its all down to the players and nothing to do with the manager' is bizarre. Hell as a 'Hughes outer' even I never bothered to lay that sort of shite on Hughes when we did well.

You guys are going to have to stop reaching. Its starting to sound silly.

I'm with you on this one Bob, I find everything in this thread strange to say the least.

Everything appears to have gone to plan as far as I can see, from the tightening up to stop conceding whilst Mancini learnt about the players through to the "shackles off" approach we are now employing in order to go for victories.

As it stands we are in position to have 4th sewn up before the last game of the season which imo would prove that Mancini has paced things perfectly.

I never thought I would ever see the day where I would prefer to have Mancini keep his job over Jose coming, however that day has arrived.

p.s. wouldn't exactly be distraught to get Jose but i feel Mancini has done enough to warrant continuing, if some of the players don't like it they can fook off.

Totally agree. If Mancini gets 4th spot then he deserves a crack next season. The players liking/not liking is irrelevent. With 4th spot comes new players who will reflect this achievement so some will be gone or sidelined anyway.

Mourinho is the best coach in football - but there are other excellent coaches out there and Mancini is ticking that box right now. If he fails to get 4th spot and we tail off badly in the next 5 games then the board can assess that and judge whether to stick with him or seek a new coach such as Mourinho.

What I don't get is why we have these frankly bizarre posts about 'body language' and so on whenever the results support the continuance of Mancini as coach. Mancini going or not going in the summer hangs on the next 5 games and not on whether Bellers gave Mancini a cuddle when substituted.

You cannot compare Stuart Pearce to Mancini.

You're not honestly comparing Pearce to Mancini are you? Roberto Mancini is a manager who has won a trophy at each of his last 3 clubs. Stuart Pearce had shown nothing to suggest he was going to be a success and nothing like the sort of return in terms of points that Mancini has got

Ridiculous isn't it comparing a manager with unlimited funds to a manager that basically had the team sold out from underneath him to pay of our debts.

Don't be idiotic. Of course I'm not comparing Pearce to Mancini - I'm comparing the situation. Do you all not understand that?

Think back. Were there many of us who DIDN'T want Pearce to be appointed to the position permanently at the time? Not really. But there were people who knew more about him than us who questioned his suitability. And would anyone now disagree we should have listened to them?
