Do you think player by player, we are better than Arsenal?

I think Arsenal are slightly ahead, but it only takes a few defensive signings to make us a real competitor for the top 4, if they all gel and work well together of course.

Idd. The ones that are saying Ned is better than Gallas and Toure and that Ireland is better than Arshavin are probably all under 18 and letting their emotions get the better of them. Ned is a good player but nowhere near Gallas and Toure yet, who have a wealth of experience and have been putting in good performances for years. Ireland better than Arshavin is a complete joke. Superman had 1 good season and to some people on here hes now up there with the top 5 best players in the league. He is over rated by some city fans even more than some united fans used to over rate ronaldo. All of Arsenals defence is better than ours. With our current defence, not 1 of them would get in the Arsenal line up.

Villa suffered playing in the UEFA cup and having a small squad with injured players....

We have a larger squad and no European distractions. We could hopefully push them further. Whether thats right to the end we shall see but we can always strengthen come January.

agree with this. hes well overrated. benitez wanted to get rid of him until we signed barry. he always seems to try to hard to score, ie shoots when a pass is on.

And what happens if De Jong gets injured, who comes in? We are a bit lightweight in midfield when you go past the starting XI, and we need another body in there. Kompany will probably move to the defence, unless we bring in some centre halves and Hughes has him battling with NDJ for the defensive midfielder role

To be honest it depends who we get in at the back - as it is i think VK will play at the back as you say. If we get Terry Toure and/or Lescott I can see NDJ and VK vying for the DM spot. Thats healthy competition. I think we only need one central defender for VK to be cover for both central defense and defensive midfielder.

I can't even believe i'm talking about VK not being first choice and indeed not needing Alonso but thats how far we've come in such a short space of time.

And Ussy i'm not saying alonso is rubbish, far from it, just that we don't need him in my opinion
