Do you think we need a proper name for COMS?

Anything but Eastlands, it is a made up place and does not refer to the stadium anyway. May as well call it New Islington or one of the other daft new names.

How about Bradford?

I'm happy with City of Manchester Stadium. Hover the debate opens up the issue of 1) ownership of the ground and 2) making the ground and the surroundings more 'City'. I think we need to buy the ground from the Council. That way we have the right to do with it essentially what we please withing planning regs etc. Can we have the sort of 'seat pictures' they have at other grounds, such as those at Preston North End, which I always think are very impressive.

We then need to give the stands names which reflect City's heritage (this can be done regardless of ownership btw). We have the Bell end, so to speak. How's about the Maine Road stand, the Mercer-Allison stand, the Trautmann stand as 3 suggestions? The car parks can also have similar names, parhaps going further back - the Meredith, the Swift (for those in a rush to escape lol!), the Tilson?

The Joe Mercer thingy outside wants replacing with a proper statue while we're at it and I don't know about you, but I always think that the memorial garden looks a bit untidy and 'squashed in' so maybe something could be done here in consultation with those who have an understandable interest in it.

Generally we need to start making our house (council owned or otherwise) our 'home'.

It's Eastlands.

The papers call it that, sky sports and setanta call it that, the radio call it that, every manager calls it that.

It's Eastlands.

The Commonwealth Stadium makes sense. I hate 'Eastlands' - it's a plastic name invented by the council.

Personally I think the City of MANCHESTER stadium is fine... we are after all the only team in the city. It reminds the Salford scum who the real mancs are.

The Blue Camp

Get a grip of yourself... silly childish name

the name is City of Manchester Stadium.. commonly known as Eastlands... over the coming decade the name Eastlands will be the preferred term... same as with Arsenal's old ground (not actually called Highbury) and West ham (not actually called Upton Park)
& Celtic,Celtic Park is generally refered to as Parkhead

Eastlands is just shorter than City of Manchester Stadium. All press etc are just lazy. It is a very poor name with no history or relevance to our club.

It is like the council changing Moss Side's name to Southlands and calling the stadium that.

COMS is fine. Why would it need changing?

TBH everyone has a different name for it, I sometimes accidently saying maine road when I mean our current ground. Every one knows what you mean! Its all down to personal preference.
