Do you think we should support the top 6 plan to receive a higher share of PL income?

I'm replying to the OP question not any report
The OP is arguing for/against something that isn’t happening and wasn’t proposed.

May as well have a thread asking “What are you thoughts on the Big Six bringing in capital punishment for players signing for City” for all the use it is.

The top 6 will be getting a higher share of PL income. That’s a fact. The top 6 might not be the same as it is this season next season but proposals like this make it a lot more likely.

Yep and by virtue of the way that maths works, it’s not just the top 6 in any one year that benefits from the new deal but anyone in the top ten in any given year.

Maybe that will help making the lower half teams more ambitious in trying to finish in the top half as opposed to settling for anything higher than 18th.

Any club in the top 12 will be better off according to Scudamore.

Fuck all to do with the argument.

The OP is totally misleading.

How can a fact be misleading?
Have you read the thread?

Have you seen how many posters have posted such enlightening arguments such as:

“How arrogant to think they deserve special treatment” and “this is just as bad as awarding ranking points for historical success in Europe” etc.

Many are still labouring under the misapprehension that specific teams will receive more simply because of who they are as opposed to meritocratic payments based on performance.

Under the new system, no team will receive less money than at present and 12 of the 20 will be better off proportionally than under the current system. So the title, which suggests that 6 teams benefit, is misleading. Hell, one poster on the last page one said he was answering the OPs question rather than actually talking about the changes that actually are taking place.

Different people will interpret it in different ways. It’s virtually certain that the present top 6 will benefit from it when it comes in and exponentially over time - which is why most people are against it. You’re right that that’s not the entire picture and some other clubs outside of the top 6 will gain more money from it but ultimately, it’s a headline on an internet forum with a character limit. If people want to find out more then that’s up to them (and advisable) but I think many people will still come to the conclusion that the top 6 will be the main beneficiaries and it will further solidify their top 6 status.

The reason it passed with the required 14 votes is that 12 clubs will benefit and as such, clubs have backed themselves to finish in the top 12. I also think 1.8 times rather than 1.6 times is hardly outrageous when one considers the additional investment needed to win the league and which games are most watched.
